Congressman Larson threatened

Hartford, Conn. (WTNH) – Rep. John Larson (D-1st District) says he’s among the many in the U.S. Congress who have been threatened following passage of the health care law.
Connecticut’s highest ranking member of Congress got several standing ovations today from doctors, nurses, hospital adminsistrators, and advocates for the elderly at his first public event since helping Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi marshal the votes for final passage of the health care law. He later revealed that he has been subjected to threats of violence both in Washington and here at home.
“There’s been an awful lot of threats,” he said. “Some against me, not to the extent that others have received, let me point that out.”

Larson says the provision banning insurance companies from excluding coverages for pre-existing conditions, an expansion to Medicare, and long-term coverage for nearly every American to use either at home or in a nursing home are worth it all.

Larson, who’s Greater Hartford district includes the highest concentration of insurance and financial services companies in the country, says the plan is good for them too.
“First of all, you saw that what happened with the stocks of a number of insurance companies, they went up,” he said.
Larson contends that contrary to the critics, the plan will actually create jobs in health care information IT and other health care related fields. And as far as facing voters in just seven months, Larson says most of the Democrats in Congress are relishing the idea.
“There is a big difference between the two parties and we welcome that opportunity and the further opportunity to educate the public in terms of the benefits that are in this program,” he said.
Larson’s district is among the most Democratic in the nation, not unlike Greater New Haven, represented by 3rd district Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, who also played a key role in this victory for the Democrats. Republican challenges in the first and third district are longshots at best.

We do know they plan on adding 12K to the IRS for this blatant invasion of privacy.
And other health care related fields??? What about health care itself John? Who gives a crap about IT and other health care spinoffs. The whole point of you and the other CT delegation voting for this was to reform "health care" for the people. Were we or you duped by the dopes in DC? By the way, what did you bring home to the table with your yes vote? My guess is nothing like your ugly windbag partner DeLauro, Courtney, Himes, and the other non-famous idiot that supposedly represents CT.
Do you really think that your company will just absorb the cost of the mandates. John Deer $150 million added cost. 3M $80 million.
Caterpillar $100 million etc etc. That will spread your wealth around (and who's wealth did you think it would be?)
we need to back up the dump truck & dump the Ct 5 dem Congressman.
"Dump Himes"
So, let me get this straight. When Tea Party Patriots spit on african american congressmen, insult homosexuals, throw bricks through windows, put coffins on lawns, stand in the legislative galleries with drawings of guns, make threatening phone calls, leave profanity laden messages and threats at their offices all they are "playing it up".
What if the tables were turned? You would be calling for the ACORN and MoveOn protesters to be arrested.
Since Todd and Able keep bringing up the past, I'd like to take the opportunity to bring up The American's With Disabilities Act. Most folks do not realize how badly that affected working American's with disibilites, yet the Democrats keep bringing up what a wonderful thing that was.
In reality, they hurt a lot of people who were forced out of good paying jobs because employers could not afford to accommodate their needs. No provision was made to protect these types of abuses, yet liberals keep touting the merits of the bill. That was another poorly planned bill that hurt more than it helped and this healthcare bill is going to hurt more people than it helps, too.
Do these liberals EVER look at the other side of the coin?
This is probably the first of many such letters. THANKS A BUNCH AH LIBERALS!!!!!!
BUT....if elections arent the answer.......................................................
Janie - And so much of what you say hasn't been proven either, now hasn't it? Yet, you keep spewing "socialist" and "communist" which you use interchangeably (demonstrating that you know nothing about either), the "birther" argument and "constitutional rights" which you obviously know nothing about if you support the Patriot Act.
"That was another poorly planned bill that hurt more than it helped..."
Just like No Child Left Behind. But I suspect that you wont be able to look at the "other side of the coin" either. Unlike you, I can provide facts to support this. Can you proved any about your lack of support for the Americans With Disabilities Act? Well, other than your implied hatred of people with disabilities and desire to see them suffer so that a business can make a buck.
So, its official, you hate people with disabilities, Alice?
"...the monthly charge is going up "to cover the cost of decreased Medicare coverage."
So, Alice, I presume the closing of the Doughnut Hole doesn't effect you?
"Seniors will get a rebate to fill the so-called "donut hole" in Medicare drug coverage, which severely limits prescription medication coverage expenditures over $2,700. As of next year, 50 percent of the donut hole will be filled."
What about no lifetime caps"
"Lifetime caps on the amount of insurance an individual can have will be banned. Annual caps will be limited, and banned in 2014."
What about this?
"Insurance companies can no longer cut someone when he or she gets sick."
How's about
"Health Insurers cannot deny children health insurance because of pre-existing conditions. A ban on the discrimination in adults will take effect in 2014."
The absurd polarization that has occured in our society is totally artificial and is the result of both parties pandering to their fringe elements for the past couple decades with the media happily playing up every event.
As it stands right now, neither party truly represents the average person and very few politicians actually care about their constituant's needs.
The American's With Disabilities Act was a VERY bad piece of legislation with NO safeguards for disabled people who were already working!!!!! As far as I know, the Patriot Act only affected folks who were questionable in the first place.
With this healthcare bill, the government now has the right to spy on everyone in the plan, tell your doctor what tests he/she can and cannot perform no matter what your condition, regulate what medications your doctor can prescribe and you will have no recourse if the government says "no" --- nobody, no board of directors that you can appeal to if you're unhappy with the decision.
This bill is MUCH more invasive in the day-to-day life of the average American. You should all be angry as hell!
No one is questioning, the good things in the bill. We all know that the insurance companies need these very good regulations, so dry up!!!
So, you benefit from "Socialism". I'm sorry that you are disabled.
Janie, I ask myself what the "H" you are talking about every day.
Hey Todd, Proud Liberal, Able, etc., When was the last time you gave a crap about a conservative? You rank on them all the time. You treat them like they're worthless. Typical judgmental bigot, hypocrites. Yet at times you sound like a conservative. I'm going to go out on a limb here, you and the few people you seem to align yourself with are far more conservative than you to think.
You guys probably make more money than me. If that is true, I want it and you should give it to me.
Friggin' DH's.
I didn't apply for SS Disability when I got out of highschool because I was/am a proud American. We took care of ourselves; took pride in that fact. Thank you for your sorrow, but it's absolutely NOT necessary. I'm not asking for pity, only understanding.
I hate your attitude and that of Able and Proud Liberal. I think every individual needs to take care of their own needs and help family members and neighbors when they need it. I abhor the mentality of people who look to the government and others who work hard for what they've earned for this kind of handout.
YOU go to work, go to school, train yourself, as I did, to get the skills I needed to get a good job. Then, YOU do a good job! Care about your work and your co-workers, and your bosses needs. Then, and ONLY then, will you be a success in my eyes.
Your constant whining and complaining about "rich" folks is a disgrace. If you want to be rich, then work hard for it like a proud American should.
THAT GOES FOR ALL OF YOU WITH THE "GIMMIE" MENTALITY!
Just like I don't expect you to relate your personal information to me, I suggest that you cease "digging" for information on where I work, my level of education, and how much money I earn.
Suffice it to say, I am very successful and run in the circles of quite well-off individuals. I have met some who are very charitable and I have met others that display "noveau riche" ideologies which are based on greed and a distinct lack of civic responsibility.
Old money works hard, expects no hand outs, and gives back to the community. My parents cut me off when I was 18, I paid and continue to pay for 4 years of undergraduate studies and 6 years of graduate school. I was given the tool that have enabled me to make a very good live for myself. Alice.
That is all I will say to you on this matter.
I find it comical that when I don't even post, I'm brought up. Talk about celebrity! Now, first of, I differ on MANY issues from that of those on the left who post here, so to lump us all together is as baseless as when anyone else does it to the right.
Secondly, I do not 'bring up the past,' unless referencing something that has a direct correlation to the point being made. I'd like for you to show me examples where I haven't, otherwise you're attempting to make false accusations.
'Hey Todd, Proud Liberal, Able, etc., When was the last time you gave a crap about a conservative?'
One of my very best friends is a Conservative Republican, to say I do not care for him would be comical. My actions in society are meant to reflect my personal desire to adapt changes for everyone, regardless of ideology, and to make their lives better in the short or long term. Also, I am well versed in conservative thinking, history and theory, so I understand the scope for which your views come, and appreciate them nonetheless. I view the political spectrum as a circle, so those who go all the way to the 'far' left or 'far' right eventually meet on many key issues, but their tactics or 'enemies' are different.
'I hate your attitude and that of Able and Proud Liberal.'
You can hate my attitude, but you can't hate my style baby. Wooo.
'I think every individual needs to take care of their own needs and help family members and neighbors when they need it.'
So, what you're saying is, you're a collectivist? Glad to know you're on the team!
'I abhor the mentality of people who look to the government and others who work hard for what they've earned for this kind of handout'
Please show where these people are, because they are without a doubt the minority.
Actually, no. The majority of those on the left are anti-establishment, anti-governance. Liberals with the capital 'L' which are centrists, find that governance can solve issues, not the majority of the wing.
Can some legislation ease issues? Yes, of course. But, does governance solve anything? Never.
We ought to stop corporate and government interference. Both distract from society.
My assumptions are based on what you write, ie. fact. If you want people to make correct assumptions about you, change your rhetorical style and think about what you say.
"nd if you do have those years of education, it's about time you started to use what you've learned instead of constanty repeating the same rhetoric."
Interesting you and your Conservative buddies spew the same thing daily. All you do is use different words.
I do not need any instruction from you on how to use my education. But thanks for playing ;-)
