Obama repeatedly claims that his healthcare proposal will save money and “bend the cost curve” of rising healthcare premiums. He is right — in the opposite direction. The Democrats’ plan would not only raise premiums, it would raise taxes while reducing the quality and availability of healthcare.

Obama expresses regret for not making Washington more bipartisan, yet he laces his speeches with gratuitous swipes at Republicans and excludes them from healthcare planning sessions.

Obama arrogance often speaks of reducing the deficit while he piles on more spending, which threatens to bankrupt the country…

Nancy Pelosi exemplifies the worst Speaker of the House ever with her incompetence and stupidity, along with Harry Reid, Head of the Senate, and Barney Frank, Dem - Mass. who participated in the "Over Sight" (appropriately named) Committee to allow Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to continue their corruptive practices. The Dumbocrates accused President Bush of criminal activity, but the fact is they need to be prosecuted for their robbing the American taxpayers. Congress has the lowest rating ever with the populous as they have created the economical and financial problems and now they are having the taxpayers pay for their corruptness and mistakes. We have already suffered enough hardships from their crookedness.

'I feel like it's being forced on me and I don't like that at all.'

We're not a direct Democracy, so unfortunately this will have to exist.

'Washington continues to ignore the voters, and is not listing to "THE PEOPLE".'

Yet the majority of citizens in the United States want healthcare reform.

'Obama has a physiological disagreement with America.'

So do most Americans, your point? Last I looked he still had ties with Israel, the gap between rich and poor had skyrocketed, we still ship jobs oversees, we allow for environmental degradation on a grand scale and we're still a Capitalist nation. So please tell me how Obama isn't sticking with the status quo, even though I object to it.

'How can you believe Progressives or trust Progressives?'

The same way you can anyone, by not making blanket statements with no merit.

'Obama repeatedly claims that his healthcare proposal will save money and “bend the cost curve” of rising healthcare premiums.'

"President Barack Obama's historic health overhaul legislation would cut 130 billion dollars from the US budget deficit through 2019, according to figures provided by Democratic lawmakers." - Agence France-Presse

'I feel like this country is turning into a dictatorship. I would like a choice in what will affect my family, my kids, my finances, my well being.'

Then either overthrow and abolish the government or be elected to it. Are you forgetting how a Republic works?

'Most of these politicians only care about the next election. So hopefully when the next election comes, we can vote them all out!'

New boss, same as the old boss.

'We have a leader who may not even be a U.S. citizen, we have a congress that is corrupt, we keep spending and our taxes keep going up.'

Your credibility left once you made the comment about him not being a citizen, even though it has been proved time and time again to be false. Now trust me, I am against Obama as well, but I can understand and appreciate truth and fact.

'All this leader wants to do is get everyone equal on the same "social class", strip away our rights and ignore the Constitution.'

Yet, he doesn't, as we're still a Capitalist nation and aren't a collectivists. You have a first graders understanding of Socialism. By the way, how's your library card holding up?

People want healthcare reform but the majority of the American people ARE against this bill. There are many ways to reform/change the healthcare system. In my opinion, and the majority of Americans this reform will only make things worse.

Take MA, they have about the same type of healthcare plan that the Fed is proposing. It is not working, they are DROWNING in debt. They have already borrowed from the federal government for the healthcare and have to do so again. Guess what?? Before this plan was implemented, the MA legislators said they would save money with this plan. Why can't our legislators look to MA to see what will happen? We all know the answer is they just don't care...Obama & company just want to get this bill passed, regardless of the consequences.

"I'm not looking to impress anyone with my credibility. I am expressing how I feel and I feel that most are crooked politicians..."

Most?

"'Washington continues to ignore the voters, and is not listing to "THE PEOPLE".'"

And this has only changed since Obama was elected? When has any president or congressional leader listened to the people?

The don't need to listen to "the people," they need only listen to the portion of the population that elected them... or the corporate lobbies that support them.

We live in a Federal Republic, not this charade of a Democracy that you all believe in.

Anonymous: "How can you believe Progressives or trust Progressives?"

Able: "So please tell me how Obama isn't sticking with the status quo, even though I object to it."

Able, its quiet simple. He can't answer your question because he just spewed angry talking points like a robot.

"Then either overthrow and abolish the government or be elected to it. Are you forgetting how a Republic works?"

Sadly, these people do understand how it works. Just look at the Tea Party Anarchists. The Nazi party also understood this.

The fact is that many dismiss the Tea Party movement (one to which, as a result of reading their comments, I am sure many of the conservatives here support) when this movement is just as dangerous, angry and prejudice as the Nazi movement.

"Most of these politicians only care about the next election."

True.

"I have no idea who Dane Cook is."

No surprise there...

"And I do not do political research on Obama's citizenship. "

Then why are you implying otherwise in your posts?

"I wasn't asked, I didn't get to vote on it and I feel like I'm being forced into it...."

Just like:

1. War on Terror
2. Medicare Advantage
3. Medicare Part D
4. No Child Left Behind
5. TARP
6. NAFTA
7. 2000 Election

"It is not working, they are DROWNING in debt."

Actually, that is false. Currently over 95% of the people of MA are insured and have access to primary care. The worst effect this bill had was decrease in payments to physicians and hospital.

"Guess what?? Before this plan was implemented, the MA legislators said they would save money with this plan. "

Guess what?? Mitt Romney, a republican, approved this bill into law.

"Why can't our legislators look to MA to see what will happen?"

Why cant we look to Canada and Norway and see how proper single payer systems work rather than come up with our own mess of a bill?

"the answer is they just don't care...Obama & company just want to get this bill passed, regardless of the consequences."

Have you looked at what the War on Terror has done to our nation, or debt, our citizens and our world image? Bushie-poo wanted his stupid little war no matter what, and when the people of the nation said they wanted out of the middle east, he did not care.

Drawing parallels between the current administration that you despise, and the one you loved is difficult. The facts speak for themselves.

By your rules seems like nobody can speak unless they can quote something or look something up. And if you don't like it you become rude.

Just my opinion and you can bash me all you want but to me, this administration is out of control - I can't understand the need to spend more money that we do not have. And if it's been years of too much spending then we need to stop it now - not continue it like this administration does. Nobody says ENOUGH. If a family can run a simple budget to manage their household, the government should be able to as well and we shouldn't have to suffer for it. If I have a budget and my lifestyle changes, so does my budget. I make cuts, I live within the budget. Nobody seems to be doing this - it is out of control in my honest opinion.

I also think healthcare needs to change but NOT THIS WAY. Let people buy across state lines, cap the lawsuits, I am sure there are other things that can be done. I'm no expert but I do not think forcing people to buy insurance is going to save any money.

Todd,
The majority of people in the Tea Party movement are regular citizens who are fed up with congress. Many voted for Obama and were dismayed by they way he is governing. It is ridiculous to compare them to the Nazi movement. I admire them because they are going out and doing something and letting their voices be heard. If anything, they are like the original Boston Tea party.

Really the only thing us regular folks can do to stop this out of control government is call/write our representatives or do some kind of protesting. I went to Hartford to protest the state income tax (nothing, of course, came of it). Most of the tea party people are out because they don't want this healthcare bill to go through. They know our taxes are going to go sky high if it does. What have they done that has so offended you?
03/18/10 @ 14:15
Comment from: Alice [Visitor]
The comment that the majority favors reform is only partially correct. Latest polls show the majority favor insurance reform, but not the public option. Many reforms in this bill are great ideas, but our government cannot correctly run programs that they design. That includes Medicare, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the recent bailout and others too numberous to mention.

Not only will the majority of folks end up paying more for the same coverage they now have, we will be taxed a great deal more to pay for those who cannot pay for their forced enrollment. With shrinking paychecks and less consumer spending, our future economy will be at a standstill like so many other countries whose citizens are forced to pay through their taxes, for those who will not work for themselves.

I don't mind paying for those who CANNOT work, but I really don't want to be forced into paying for those who will NOT work, for illegal people or those who are too lazy to educate themselves into better jobs and benefits.

He's a comedian, just like yourself. Also, people question the Kennedy assassination and moon landing too.

'Well if it's just my "opinion" that they are jamming all this down our throats I am sure I am not alone in feeling this way.'

You are not, and in fact I agree with you. But again, you being asked occurred when you either voted for against the individuals in Congress. You can want to be asked all you wish, but it doesn't change how a Republic works. Do I agree it should be the way you speak of? Of course. But, the plausibility of it is not an actual reality.

'And when someone on here posts something you may disagree with you both get rude and nasty - Able & Todd.'

Please show examples of where I have ever said anything rude or nasty. I await a detailed and highly cited response. What Todd does, I don't know, because I'm not him, nor do I care how he responds.

'Is this a blog where only quoting and researching is allowed or can people have opinions on here? By your rules seems like nobody can speak unless they can quote something or look something up. And if you don't like it you become rude.'

It is not a blog where opinions aren't warranted, but to pass off opinion as FACT is not beneficial to the overall discourse of the website. It does not help push discussions forward, and it just distracts from the truth. I'm all for anyone wanting to express an opinion cited or not, but when I ask for people to back up elements with information they rarely can.

Also, I do not become rude when the case appears where someone cannot do it. People do not like my indignation, that is quite alright, I do not approve of their inability to hold a conversation without resorting to nonsense. People do not approve of being called out on their, for lack of a better word, stuff. So they make it appear in their own minds that I am rude.

'If a family can run a simple budget to manage their household, the government should be able to as well and we shouldn't have to suffer for it.'

You're not allowing for the many variables and complexities of a budget that size to come into play. Now, forcing people to buy insurance is laughable, I agree, as are many of the parts of the 'reform' bill, but there are also some quality elements. Sadly, it is a far cry from single-payer which is the only option available to make our nation healthier, happier and respected. The defense appropriations can always be cut, but how dare anyone say that?

'The majority of people in the Tea Party movement are regular citizens who are fed up with congress.'

So are the majority of members in the KKK, the Black Panthers or any other group. It is a matter of funding and support for these organizations. Individuals in the Tea Party are against many of the same issues that Anarchists or social radicals are, yet they are deemed to be on the fringe far more so.

The only way to stop the nonsense in Washington is an absolute refusal to pay, an absolute refusal to play into the rules set up around us. We're trapped behind barriers, know what we want, but refuse to make the sacrifices to get it.

'Latest polls show the majority favor insurance reform, but not the public option.'

http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/pdf/poll_Obama_120909.pdf?tag=contentMain;contentBody

While not the latest, it is a very in depth poll, and any data I've seen since has not wavered. The majority of Americans want health reform, insurance reform and healthcare for all. Yet, we get more money to insurance companies, worse health and healthcare for those who can afford it. So, nothing has changed.

'...like so many other countries whose citizens are forced to pay through their taxes, for those who will not work for themselves.'

Well the majority of the world has a variance of a single-payer system, yet they seem to survive, have better healthcare and happier citizens. Most would rather pay higher taxes towards health than towards the military, as it would benefit their fellow citizens more. It is called equality, not socialism.

'I don't mind paying for those who CANNOT work, but I really don't want to be forced into paying for those who will NOT work, for illegal people or those who are too lazy to educate themselves into better jobs and benefits.'

As if it is easy to educate one self in this nation, or do any of those actions you state. You simply ignore too many facts to be taken seriously.

KFC - Unlike many of your fellow conservatives here I admit that I do get nasty. Not because I want to, but because I am provoked by a group of four or five vile individuals who go out of their way to degrade, insult and slander. Furthermore, I find many of the rash generalizations, lies that are perpetuated and these individuals double-standards to be a bit on the sickening side.

So...
1. I am tired of being insulted because I don't agree with the conservative hard-line that posts here.
2. I am tired of being insulted because I was afforded an education.
3. I am tired of being told that I want to see this country destroyed because I support progressive legislation.
4. I am tired of being called a host of name, including fag, by a bunch of adults who have nothing better to do with their time.

If I respond with anger, so be it. However, I will plainly state that what you see in this blog is a host of individuals who dilute the quality of discourse because they are unable to prove a point or support what they say with facts.

"I went to Hartford to protest the state income tax (nothing, of course, came of it)."

The legislation was attempted to repealed a few days later. However, it fell one vote short.

So, something did come out of it. And it was the "Tax you to death" Democrats who fought the Income Tax.

"Most of the tea party people are out because they don't want this healthcare bill to go through."

That might be one branch of the movement, but there is a second more insidious one out there.

Take for example this:

"Homosexuality was never respected and was condemned and secreted in shame. Many say that homosexuality is heterophobia and has its roots in pedophilia."
From Tea Party Blogs, part of the Tea Party Patriots site...
http://www.teapartypatriots.org/BlogPostView.aspx?id=e702a521-52ef-4d34-b6b5-366111dabd10

The writer goes on to say "So, its difficult at best to fit homosexuality into the ‘separate but equal’ formula." So, I ask you, does the Tea Party support equal rights? I don't believe so...

So, when statements like that are removed from the official Tea Party Patriot's site, I will stop comparing the movements members to Nazis.

For those who think this is a “fringe issue”, answer these questions..

1. Obama has fought over 30 lawsuits for his long form birth records, college records and the like. True or false? Back up you answer with fact.(The answer is he has)

2. His mother renounced American citizenship when she expatriated herself and Barack to Indonesia, thus losing "natural born" citizenship status forever, because once natural born status has been revoked, it can never be reinstated. True or false, back up your answer with fact. (The answer is yes, she did)

3. The democrats demanded these same records of McCain and Tom delay which they turned over without fuss or fanfare. True or false? Back up your answer with fact. (The answer is those situations happened. Those are examples of how elected leaders behave when citizenship records are demanded. They don't spend ONE MILLION DOLLARS - also public record since he's using democratic funds - to keep anyone from seeing them)

The only rule of this game: the responses to the questions comprised of, “Nobody cares”, “He already showed his citizenship documents” (wrong, and nobody pays lawyers to fight something in court they have already conceded) and “He’s already the President, get over it” or the same don’t count as real answers

Additionally:

Obama has (must have) a passport issued by a country other than the U.S. Long before he was President, Obama traveled to Pakistan during a period when travel to Pakistan was banned by the U.S. State Department. This is 100%, date and history cross-indexed unambiguous public-record fact. So what country does his passport say he’s from? We don’t know because he won’t allow his lawyers to disclose it.

It’s possible that Obama obtained college admittance and scholarships based on representing himself as a foreign student. This is the only plausible explanation (given the other evidence) as to why he is the only U.S. president to take legal action to hide all of his college records from scrutiny (not only birth but COLLEGE records, as well).

On a side note, Obama (aka Barry Soetoro) must have committed perjury when he signed his Illinois Bar application, which claimed that he had never used any name other than Barack Obama, even though he went by several different names, including Barry Soetoro. Fact. There is no way around this one.

Tell everyone you know that this is a real issue and explain why.

What is Obama sending his lawyers out to keep hidden? It's time we all asked together in a very
loud voice.

It's time we all asked together in a very
loud voice.

While I am not a birther, but they make some valid points. The Obama campaign spents millions defending lawsuits on the topic. Why defend something you can simply cure by opening the records? It seems the little I have looked into this, the President has dodged this issue. Again, why dodge something as simple as this? Also, just because he was born Hawaii
does not necessarily make him a citizen. If he did indeed become a citizen of Indonesia, as some have claimed, then he is no longer a natural born citizen under the law. This is not a minor issue. Especially when you can see on a regular basis how his time living in Africa has created and driven his agenda.

I’m sick of hearing first African American he is not he is a biracial it a pitty he is ashamed of the color of the woman who gave birth to him
