Hamden, Conn. (WTNH) – As Susan Bysiewicz faces a legal question over her qualifications to be attorney general, a poll by Quinnipiac University released Thursday shows she is the top Democrat in the race.
Bysiewicz leads George Jepsen 54 percent to 10 percent, the poll showed. 31 percent remain undecided in the race.
“Despite negative headlines, Susan Bysiewicz is still way ahead in the Democratic primary for Attorney General,” Quinnipiac Poll Director Doug Schwartz said in a news release. “One has to wonder how long she can maintain her big lead if the various controversies surrounding her campaign continue.”
On the Republican side, 66 percent said they are undecided. Of those who identified a candidate, State Sen. Andrew Roraback is on top at 13 percent.
‘Undecided’ is the big word in the race for governor. On the Democratic side, 31 percent say they are undecided, followed by Ned Lamont with 28 percent and Dan Malloy with 18 percent.
For the Republicans, 50 percent are currently undecided. Tom Foley leads the pack of candidates at 30 percent.
“Like Linda McMahon, Tom Foley is the only candidate for governor who is on TV, which helps him break away from the Republican pack,” Schwartz said. “Even Foley, however, is largely unknown to Republicans and the big winner is still undecided.”
No other candidate from either party topped four percent, the poll showed.
Voters also oppose the return of toll booths on Connecticut highways, 56 - 40 percent.
The poll also shows voters oppose allowing keno gambling in bars and restaurants by a wide margin, 70 - 27 percent.
The poll 1,451 Connecticut registered voters was held March 9th - 15th, and has a margin of error of +/- 2.6 percentage points. Full details are here.
