dont these idiots in hartford have anything better to do. Guy has a few acres, heating oils outrageously high, so he buys a wood furnace to burn a renewable resource that grows in his yard. He wants to be GREEN . But oh no, hes not politically correct green and the green police want to SHUT HIM DOWN . **** them. keep burning baby

Why is this "advocacy group" not named. One small scale brush fire would produce 100,000 times the smoke from a wood furnace. A complete waste of time by the "nanny" crowd.

This is just more pablum for useful idiots, and yet another distraction to keep our attention turned away from any sort of budget discussions. It appears that the legislature has neither the will, courage, or ability to address the real problems. Ignore it and it will just go away, right?

The answers are fairly simple, easy as 1,2,3!

1) Remember this in November
2) Vote for challengers
3) Push for term limits

How does wood smoke pose a health hazard? Unless it is poison ivy, oak or sumac you are burning.

Wood burning furnaces do not pose a health hazard. If they ban that, then they would have to ban all things that burn wood, including grills, patio furnaces, and even these:

http://www.hpba.org/government-affairs/old-website-archive/issues-legislation/outdoor-wood-furnaces

Even the outdoor fire pits that you use on your patios would have to be banned too.

Here is the article about it:

Why, would you do such a terrible thing. The economy is so bad people need to burn wood to keep warm. There are so many unemployed people in our state and across the country, that can not afford heat its a nightmare. The wood stoves are keeping people alive.

Fireplace use is already banned in certain parts of California, they'll be after the boy scouts for having campfires and forget about toasting marshmellows.

Lets have a bomb fire tonight in the back yards of every town around. Send a message to the backroom boys in Hartford. Not the tea party, make it a campfire party

I'd only like to point out that there isn't one "outdoor wood furnace" in my neighborhood but when you walk outside on a winter evening you can see, smell and yes, taste the smoke.
I'd like the fine individuals that want these outdoor furnaces banned to instead focus on proper fireplace design and use.
It might also be a great use of state resources to be more upset about something a bit more important. I understand that lung issues are a real problem but this issue should be resolvable between the principals and shouldn't need an intrusion on the legislators time. This seems more than a bit of over-reaction.
I intend to call and voice my support for the outdoor furnaces.
