Rell: federal impasse "shameful"

Hartford, Conn. (AP) – Republican Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell has directed her labor and transportation commissioners to assess how the state will be affected by an impasse on federal legislation she describes as “the dysfunction that exists in Congress.”
Jobless benefits suddenly ended for some laid-off workers Monday, Medicare payments to doctors were delayed and 2,000 federal transportation workers were sent home in a spending dispute tinged with election-year politics.
Democrats in Washington seized on the impasse to portray Republicans as obstructionists willing to block popular programs that create jobs and provide relief to the unemployed.
Rell says it’s shameful that programs that tens of thousands of Connecticut residents are counting on have fallen victim to partisan squabbling. She says the state has lost tens of thousands of jobs since the recession began and unemployment insurance checks are a lifeline for many families.

REALLY penalize people for being sick............
Now THATS "shameful".......
The fact of the matter is PT, that if the hard-working people who lost their jobs through no fault of their own, lose unemployment INSURANCE (not welfare) benefits, subsequently they will not be able to pay their mortgages or rents, or car loans, or buy food, pay for electricity and home heating oil, or clothes for their kids to wear to school, they will have no money to spend and even more businesses will suffer and the economy will get EVEN worse than it is now, and this will bring our country to bankruptcy. Be realistic please.
I can NOT believe - a "Hospital User Fee" - so will EVERYBODY pay this fee or will it be waived for the "poor" people who will be getting totally free care????
I went to the ER yesterday and my copay os going to be either $50 or $300, depending on the level of care I will be getting.....
Essentially this fee is a tax.... I define a tax as money I pay to the blackhole (also known as the General Fund) without receiving any direct benefit for such payment.....
What next - a "happiness tax" on condomes????
