Hartford, Conn. (AP) – Connecticut is receiving about $1.3 million in federal stimulus money to help residents quit smoking, reduce obesity among children and provide other health initiatives in schools and communities.
Gov. M. Jodi Rell says the money will allow the state Department of Public Health to expand its tobacco Quitline and work with grassroots organizations to promote stop smoking programs.
The Department of Public Health also will use federal stimulus money to help schools and communities promote healthy food and beverage choices and physical activity.

Crickets.
Can we send it back wrapped in a message that says "shove it?"
It will cut down on the instances of lung and other cancers, as well as emphysema.
According to the National Institute of Health:
Emphysema costs more than $2.5 billion in annual health care expenses and causes or contributes to 100,000 deaths in the U.S. each year.
"Over half of costs related to lung cancer is due to smoking, says US study"

So, for a group of conservatives and Tea Party Patriots who don't want to pay for others health care, I can't understand why any of you wouldn't support this.
If a "rational" person by NOW cant figure out what smoking does to you and stop on their own..these programs wont either...
COMPLETE waste of $$$$
but again, thats what Washington likes to do "WASTE"..........
including this "change" administration.........
"" CT received tons of $$$ from multi-state settlement that most states used for this purpose, but CT's money went into the BLACK HOLE, A/K/A "The General Fund"......""
this is SOOOOOO true.........
MORE money "misused"..........
Rell is leaving because she is incompetent.
Todd is a moron.
How much more taxes do CT residents have to pay...my property taxes just increased to $7,000 per year??? The house is about 2500 sq ft and the reevaluation was done in 2009 and I just got the notification. Two weeks later I received notice that they want to come inside and reevaluate for 2011. Now, this process is done every 2 years. It went from every 10 years to every 4 years to now every 2 years??? In Florida the house value stays the same through the whole time the resident owns it. The only thing that changes is the mill rate. Makes a lot more sense to me!!!! Oh and I thought values were decreasing???
Be careful what you ask the government for, look at their track record.
Obama is all talk, no action… Weak weak president…

When ye hast no thoughts of ye own, ye must result to scumbaggery.
They are levying the most immature argument possible. Saying that two people can't disagree with them without being the same person posting under two different names.
Its like being in grammar school. This "we don't agree with you so we are going to bully you mentality."
Furthermore, this is amazing, you all call Able and I the "Loony Left" but your angry posts and unprovoked attacks make you out to be the angry dysfunctional right.
