Hartford, Conn. (WTNH) – Reliable sources tell News Channel 8 that former Speaker of the House Jim Amann of Milford will formally end his campaign for Governor tomorrow in an announcement at the Hall of Flags at the State Capitol.
Amann was the first to declare his intentions and surprised everyone by giving up the speakership to run.
His campaign has sputtered with funding and staffing issues.

He causes most of our fiscal problems here in the State by using the super-majority the Democrats have had for several years now.
Continually ramming big spending budgets through the legislature and forcing them down our throats.
Good-bye and good riddance.....
At the state level, we are feeling the pain of the bad economy and many years of do nothing republican govenors, the last republican govenor was sent to jail. If it was not for the CT legislature, headed by people like Jim Amann, we would be in even worse condition.
Over time you will find that many who posts here are radical conservatives or members of the Tea Party Nation. They can see fault in Democrats, but in their minds, Republicans are NEVER wrong.
Bush was their savior. Yet he screwed this country up royally. They will never be able to admit that THEY under his administration could have done everything they wanted, but did the exact opposite.
Stop perpetuating the notion that the Banking/Finance industry wasn't equally complicit in all aspects that
contributed to both the housing bust, and the massive failures that led to the bailouts. There were any equal amount of junk jumbo loan $, that had nothing to do with fannie/freddie. No one
forced them to throw away the entire bible of underwriting standards; they played their card to milk this to the hilt, knowing that incopetants like the above, would totally miss their tact. Yeh, Barney Frank and company stinks too, but you do no good for anyone, leaving out the bigger part of the story.
Funny how such blatant ignorance, parades around as "the truth" these days.
Yes, the faltering economy is partly to blame, but the Dems refused to recognize the fact that a slower economy means less revenue brought into the State coffers.
What was their (the Dems) solution???
Raise taxes more and spend more. The economy continued to drop off and the revenues were even less than what they had over-projected they'd be to begin with.
What did they do with the next budget when this happened??? More of the same, raised the taxes, increased spending and NO substantial cuts.
What was their attitude towards Gov. Rell when she was pushing to cut spending to stave off a financial crisis (i.e. the one we are now in)? They pretty much told her too bad, we are going to continue to spend and not make any cuts.
So all of you astute liberal Amann backers, please explain to me how he is NOT the cause of our current financial mess??????
As to your question.. "And further more let me ask you a question. What have you done for your community or State ever??? If nothing - Shut up and get to work!!!!! "
Hmmmm let me start the list:
-- gainfully employed, paying taxes to support those who aren't/don't...
-- Volunteer Boy Scout leader
-- Former US Navy Submariner with 6 years Active Duty and 12 years in the Navy Reserve.
-- Regular Food Pantry donor.
-- Regular Salvation Army donor.
-- Regular donor to most any civic group that is asking for donations.
So yeah I think I'd say I've done a lot for my Country, my State and my Community..
Sp please do me a favor and heed your own advice... Shut up
It seems like you are a very angry and hateful individual Obviously a Republican (I am ashamed to say) - I feel sorry for you. And while your list of credentials might seem quite impressive - How do I know that for sure that what you say is true? Just as you do not know for sure when you are making accusations about someone that are not true and you DO NOT have facts to back them up. You do not know him personally - and you do not know the hard work and sacrafices he has made. And by the way for the record he has tremendous respect from both sides of the isle. And Mr. Ordinary Visitor I know that for a fact.
As for whether or not what I'm saying is true, I could care less about your believing me. Since you are so aligned and familiar with ole' Jimmy boy (perhaps you're a former barstool hanger on from his pub business) with the illustrious FORMER speaker, I'm quite glad you have so much 'venom' and dislike for what I'm saying here.
