Lawmakers react to Obama speech

Hartford (WTNH) – Republican leaders in Connecticut are saying that President Obama didn’t really hear the message of the Scott Brown election in Massachusetts last week. Democrats are saying he did and Obama reacted to that message in his State of the Union speech last night.
Congressman Chris Murphy (D-5th District) toured Data Management Incorporated in Farmington this afternoon. It’s a small manufacturing business - the kind that both Democrats and Republicans say needs to be helped to create jobs in this economy. He says the State of the Union Address was a wake-up call.
“I think everybody needed a kick start last night, Democrats, Republicans and the country. I think he recognized that he had an angry audience both in that chamber and out in the public,” Murphy said.
Murphy also thinks the Obama did well in readjusting and explaining the Democrat’s agenda.
“His message was don’t let that anger get in the way of doing what we need to do to grow jobs and reform our health care system. I think everyone needed a kick start and I hope that people get the message,” he said.
Republican ears here in Connecticut heard it differently. State Republican Party Chairman Chris Healy says, “What he fails to understand is that the frustration stems directly from the leftward agenda he has tried to push through Congress despite the overwhelming protests of voters.”
Most vividly demonstrated in Scott Brown’s enormous victory in the special U.S. Senate election in Massachusetts last week.
“President Obama’s solutions tend to be government solutions and I think he’s missing the essential message of Senator Brown’s victory which is that people don’t look at the government to solve our problems, they look at government now as the problem,” said state Sen. John McKinney (R-Minority Leader).
McKinney and other Republicans in Connecticut think the Brown message that worked so well in Massachusetts is the one that most voters are wanting to hear and that the President and the rest of the Democratic leadership really aren’t hearing it at all.
“We need government to get out of our way, let business and people create jobs, grow our economy, and I still think the President is missing the point on that and going in the wrong direction,” McKinney said.

Funny how far out of touch with reality he has become in his short tenure as one of CT's representatives.
I assume this is what happens when you buy into the Obama Administration's "do-nothing yet proclaim doing everything" policy.
I am not much of a psychic nor am I a seer, yet I do believe Mr. Murphy is going to be another recipient of 'change' that we really DO believe in...
The latest financial crisis was NOT created by "greedy business" but by the government, including and especially Barack Obama, who made laws on lending institutions to make loans to people they knew never had the resources to buy a house int he first place.
Pat, it's time to turn off the frothing at the mouth morons on TV and go get some real facts for yourself so you don't put up something as incorrect, poorly written and frankly, just plain stupid as you did here.
That figures.
Obama is driving the country off a cliff and Democrats are making sure the gas tank is full.

How did Obama create a financial crisis that began during the last administration?
The ideologies of people like you are what got us here in the first place. Rather than working together you dream up absurd statements like the one you made in your post, and then go on the partisan attack when people call it out for what it is - insane Glenn Beck propaganda!
What you see right now is an atmosphere that will create the rise of a third party, either extreme right or extreme left. Unfortunately, the party that was created wast he Tea Party Coalition, which is made up of an insane, extremely partisan group of people. Many of the people who call themselves conservatives and post on this blog are actually hard line angry individuals who identify with this organization.
If these people represent those who will foster change in Washington, WATCH OUT! People think the Terrorists was bad,
