HONOLULU (AP) – President Barack Obama says he has ordered a review of the nation’s watchlist system and of its air safety regulations, and has asked his national security team to keep up the pressure on terrorists aiming to attack the U.S.
Obama says U.S. officials are doing everything in their power to ensure Americans are safe in the wake of the Christmas Day attack on a Northwest Airlines flight bound for Detroit.
The president, issuing a statement Monday during his holiday vacation in Honolulu, says U.S. authorities will not rest until they find everyone involved in the attack in Detroit and hold them accountable.
Obama’s remarks were his first in public about a Nigerian man’s alleged attempt to bring down the airliner.

Then how do you justify Bush not cutting his vacation short and staying in Texas during and after Katrina. His lack of a quick response has become legendary. So, this was ok with you insofar as Bush was concerned, but not in Obama's situation?
Early Tuesday morning, August 30, a day after the hurricane struck, President Bush attended a V-J Day commemoration ceremony at Coronado, California while monitoring the situation with his aides and cabinet officials.
Bush was criticized for not returning to Washington, D.C. from his vacation in Texas until after Wednesday afternoon, more than a day after the hurricane hit on Monday. (Bumiller, Elisabeth. "Bush criticized over storm response." International Herald Tribune. September 2, 2005. Retrieved on July 15, 2006.)

Please do not forget that Bush took more time off than any president in US history.
intended for the traveling public. The real security happens in secret by professionals. Unfortunately, the longer Obama is in power, the more incompetent people infiltrate the system while the professionals are ether pushed out or leave in disgust.
The people that hate Oboma will always hate him no matter what. They all find TV 8 news blogs to blather on, endlessly.
Can we give all the hate posting a break ?

Like, thanks to "profiling" as a dirty, filthy word *whistles*....
Like someone said in Isreal the other day " not all Muslims are terrorists BUT when you look at the terrorist acts being committed around the world, the terrorists ARE Muslim, for the most part.......
It IS what it IS.............
You said it best...99.9% of the world's terrorists are Muslims. We need to stop the politically correct garbage and protect the American people. Of course the majority of Muslims in this country are good law abiding people but they might have to be inconvenienced to account for the few that aren't. It makes no sense, in a time and resource way, to go after people that we know aren't terrorists.
I'm also glad he put it out there that we (the US) still plan on hunting these rabid dogs down and exterminating them....
LOL I still don't care for the guy as President, but I've got to give credit where I feel credit is due...
PS. Janie... you haven't seen any media outlet that claims Obama is on track because you only watch FOX and listen to conservative talk radio. You also ignore anything that doesn't fit your understanding of the facts.
"Here we go again. Todd with Bush again. You're a broken record. "
As if you, janie, etal. arent broken records? The facts are the facts. Whether it is Bush, Clinton, Obama.
Does anyone take this guy seriously ?
I wish he would just stay on vacation in HI for the rest of his term.........
The TERRORIST has 3rd degree burns around his "junk"... sounds like a squirt gun filled with rubbing alcohol might make him "cooperate".
Great after Christmas gift. I bought 4.

Obama failed on Christmas Day, just as President George W. Bush failed on September 11th (though he succeeded in the seven years after that).
Former Vice President Dick Cheney accused President Barack Obama on Tuesday of “trying to pretend we are not at war” with terrorists, pointing to the White House response to the attempted sky bombing as reflecting a pattern that includes banishing the term “war on terror” and attempting to close the Guantanamo Bay detention center.
“[W]e are at war and when President Obama pretends we aren’t, it makes us less safe,” Cheney said in a statement to POLITICO. “Why doesn’t he want to admit we’re at war? It doesn’t fit with the view of the world he brought with him to the Oval Office. It doesn’t fit with what seems to be the goal of his presidency — social transformation — the restructuring of American society.”
