Six years ago we did NOT have a 1.5 TRILLION dollar deficit for ONE year. Obama's deficit will exceed the total of Bush's deficits for EIGHT years in just ONE year. Obama's deficits will total at least 10 TRILLION dollars by conservative estimates.

During the Clinton administration the Republics tried to pass a balanced budget amendment which the democrats stopped. It's the democrats that are the hypocrites and liars.

The republicans did not even try to pay for any thing. That is all fact. That is the record that is totally indisputable. The Democrats tried to pay as they go but GW bushes melt down had to be paid for with the deficet. Wish we did not have to go that way but we had no choice thanks to what baby bush left us on inauguration day.

I saw a funny comic in the paper a couple of months ago.

It stated The dems had changed the way they do business. It use to be "tax and spend" but the change we voted for is now "spend then tax".

LOL

Proud Liberal - you can defend your party - that's normal. Both parties have cost us so don't be so one way. Maybe the answer is to look for a "people's party" for a change.

Judging from the comments, it seems that a small minority of people "get it". It's not a Democrat or Republican thing anymore. Have any of you from the left ever considered the possibility that the republicans got spanked in the last election because the forgot how to act like republicans or conservatives? Or do you find it impossible to put the the screeching manual given to you by your party leaders? I gave up on my Republican party years ago and switched to Libertarian. The final push was RINO Rell proposing an increase in the income tax. WTF? Buh bye, I'm outta' your party. I'm happy to see that at least Janie understands that it's BOTH sides that a spending like drunken crack addicted sailors. I want BOTH sides to knock off the crap and start showing some fiscal restraint.

Time to vote out the rest of the Republicans as they did not learn their lesson last year. They cause us the most problems. Maybe a People's party could rise if we deal the Repubs a final blow to stop the madness.

Get Real has the right idea....we need a movement here called "No Incumbents".....NOBODY who is in office now whether it be national, state or local should be re-elected in 2010....do the same in 2112....and keep it up till they start representing the PEOPLE. Those elitist scum bags work for us...FIRE THEM ALL!!!!

The Medicare drug plan is one of the reasons I disliked George Bush. This was a blatant give away to the drug companies. Yes, the seniors benefited but we would have had 30 years for Medicare to go broke but because of the prescription drug plan it is 8 years. It was the wrong thing to do because we simply couldn't afford it.

That being said certainly doesn't negate the mess being proposed by the Democrats. This health care plan is a disaster. Why do two wrongs make a right??? The Democrats should have repealed the prescription drug plan - lol , yea right!!!

The fact is both sides of the aisle DO NOT have this country's best interests at heart. They can justify all of the harm they are doing...free trade agreements that have caused industry to leave the USA, No penalties for companies that outsource (let them enjoy all of the USA's protections without giving anything to the USA), Fannie & Freddie Mac, that the taxpayers had to bail out, the worthless SEC commitee that didn't do its job, the idiotic legislation that said banks must loan to people that can't afford it and the list goes on and on and on. Catering to lobbyists instead of the Amercan people. Eventually, America will pay the price for these huge mistakes!!!!!
