Hartford (AP) – Connecticut House Minority Leader Lawrence Cafero Jr. says he won’t seek the Republican nomination for governor in 2010.
Cafero, who had formed an exploratory committee for an undisclosed statewide office, held a news conference at the state Capitol on Monday to announce that he’s decided to seek another term as the House leader, after many hours of discussions with his family.

He says this is not the right time for him to run for governor and that he truly loves his current job.
The Norwalk attorney has served in the General Assembly since 1993.
Lt. Gov. Michael Fedele and former U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Tom Foley have already announced their plans to seek the Republican nomination, now that Gov. M. Jodi Rell has said she’s not seeking another term.
