Lieberman indicates support for health bill

Washington (AP) – Independent Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman says he expects to support the Democrats’ health care legislation as long as any government-run insurance plan stays out of the bill.
Lieberman has been a question mark on the health care legislation for months. To win him over, Senate leaders said late Monday they were backing away from a Medicare expansion Lieberman opposed. They already had dropped a full-blown government insurance program.
Lieberman told reporters Tuesday that if the Medicare expansion and government insurance plan are gone, “I’m going to be in a position where I can say what I’ve wanted to say all along: that I’m ready to vote for health care reform.”
Senate leaders need Lieberman’s support to secure 60 votes necessary to advance the legislation in the 100-member Senate.

Advocates make a point by saying the war cost a fortune and if it was protecting the American people it was worth it. I believe this health care bill will actually harm more people than save them. People need to wake up.... the government is already proposing to stop mammograms from 40 - 50 years of age. This is unconscionable. 20% of the women who currently have breast cancer were diagnosed between 40 and 50 years of age. What will happen to them????? Also the proposal said women should cease having them at age 74. A 74 year old women is capable of having 20 more productive years. I'm not taking about extending someone life for 6 months because I don't agree with that.
This just proves there will be rationing. How is this an improvement...you help one group by hurting another. True health care reform should be about reducing costs and having some kind of assistance to help people who lose their jobs or can't afford the premiums...oh wait we do have medicaid. We all know Medicaid sucks so why would a government plan be any different. Medicare is a good plan because the public contributes to it...but it still is going bankrupt.
I would rather see the insurance companies more heavily regulated... how much they can increase in a given year. Tort reform would help and buying across state lines.
The damage done by this will cause the republicans to take over Congress in 2010. This is a re-run of 1993-94 with Hillary-care.
Joe Lieberman and Sarah Palin would make a GREAT Republican ticket if we could only convince her to run again!
And Doctors aren't listening...
"This just proves there will be rationing."
Actually, this study was the result of an evidence-based meta analysis of a number of papers studying the incidence of breast cancer in women under the age of 50. It has nothing to do with rationing, unless health insurance companies use the findings to deny care to save money -- which I am sure they are already doing.
"If anything, it should help him as at least 75% of Americans support his position. "
Another one of Sarah's baseless facts? Where did you cull this bit of info from, FOX?
"Joe Lieberman and Sarah Palin would make a GREAT Republican ticket if we could only convince her to run again!"
Yes, a stupid woman with an IQ of 60 and a "flip-flopping" pseudo-conservative... what a great ticket. At least they have one vote... Yours...

I would agree with this 100%.
The fine print of government run insurance.
Then he can open the eyes and the truth will set us free.
To see folk out with signs in the street begging politions is pathetic,we need strait answers,so we can be at easy.
Benifactors and malfactors stand side by side so we the people can see whats going on.Public debate.

Vote "No" Joe no matter what. It will never get though the House. Lets move on to more important things like creating jobs and fixing the economy.
First we spread the wealth, now we spread the health.
At least the truth came out. It used to be that the uninsured were accused as being the sick, limping into ER's as GOMERS. Now the story is that the insurance companies want the uninsureds as customers, to make up for the sick who cannot be declined coverage.
Dear insurance company: My house is on fire. Can I buy a new policy from you? Mr. Hussein Obama apparently believes that I should be able to
"A general dissolution of principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy. While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but when once they lose their virtue then will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader."
