(WTNH) – Dozens of state buildings and pieces of property, including an armory and several properties owned by the Department of Transportation, are going up for sale as the State of Connecticut looks to raise some cash.

Included in the sale is the Seaside Regional Center in Waterford (closed in 1996), the Nathan Hale Hall in Willimantic (closed in 2001), the old Litchfield Jail in Litchfield, and the Bristol Armory.

“This is a chance for the state to realize much-needed revenues and for residents, developers and others to buy prime property and other assets,” Gov. Jodi Rell said in statement Thursday.

To go along with the sale, the state created the web site ct-surplus-property.com to list the site and provide pictures and descriptions to all the properties.

The budget approved by the general assembly in September calls for raising $15 million from asset sales durin this budget year, and $45 million in fiscal 2011, the governor’s office said.

“We must do all in our power to meet the goals of the budget and reduce the current-year budget deficit,” the governor said. “Selling these parcels will bring in cash for the state without adding to the burdens on taxpayers or employers.”

The state has already held auctions to sell off cars and heavy equipment, and has raised about three million dollars.
