NJ Senate OKs gay-marriage bill

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) – A bill to legalize gay marriage has cleared the New Jersey state Senate Judiciary Committee, paving the way for a full Senate vote Thursday.
Monday night’s committee vote was 7-6.
New Jersey is the best chance for proponents to add a sixth state allowing same-sex unions.
A similar measure was voted down last week in the New York state Senate. Last month, voters in Maine overturned a law that was enacted this year to allow same-sex weddings but never took effect.
Gay marriage is recognized in Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut and Iowa. It becomes legal in New Hampshire in January.
Proponents want the New Jersey bill passed quickly because Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine has said he’d sign it before leaving office.
Republican Gov.-elect Chris Christie says he’d veto it. He takes office Jan. 19.

Whatever happens "don't let teh people have a say". In the words of the Democrat CT legislature that passed it "This is much too important to allow the people to have a say. It needs to be decided by the enlightened elite and the appointed judges".

Matthew 19:12 should pass it,and set everyone free.And stop the gay bashing from the polititions.

If God were real, and the book of fairytales you call a moral code were real, then yes. But, I tend to believe that all humans and non-humankind deserve to be treated fairly, not be cast out due to a thousand year old folkway.

Because they're in Congress, and as a man who has Jewish heritage, that is rather offensive and comical.

If God were real, and the book of fairytales you call a moral code were real, then yes. But, I tend to believe that all humans and non-humankind deserve to be treated fairly, not be cast out due to a thousand year old folkway.

The Republican part of 1860 and 1920 would make up a majority of the current Democratic Party, due to polar switches. Also, large portions of the Democratic Party, including the President, passed civil rights legislation.

As I stated, they don't want to give rights to people who deserve them.

Thanks, I didnt have any say over TARP, the War on Terror, the Patriot Act, or the most recent Bail Out. But I guess its alright for people not to have their say if its something Joesixpack agrees with.
