HARTFORD (AP) – Dozens of florists, nursery workers, greenhouse growers and Christmas tree farmers are descending this weekend on the Governor’s Residence in Hartford to install holiday decorations.
The plant growers and decorators are in their 19th year of decorating the 19-room brick Georgian colonial as a public service for the holidays. It will feature six Connecticut-grown Christmas trees along with locally produced poinsettias, holiday decorations, arrangements, and garlands.
The 100-year-old mansion, located at 990 Prospect Ave. in Hartford, was acquired by the state in 1943. The public can visit free to see the decorations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 4 and 5, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Dec. 6.
