CT Dems slam Dodd challengers
Posted by ConnPolitics.tv Staff on November 24th, 2009
Hartford (WTNH) – With the departure of Sam Caligiuri from the race for U.S. Senate and Tom Foley likely to follow, the Connecticut Democrats issued the following statement:
“For an allegedly “vulnerable” incumbent, Chris Dodd may not seem like such an easy picking to the candidates running against him. In one day, the field of Republican challengers has essentially been cut in half, with Caligiuri and Foley fleeing for greener pastures, leaving a backbench defeated House member with zero accomplishments to his political name, a professional wrestling executive most notable for her dissemination of violence, vulgarity, and steroids, and a Ron Paul acolyte.”

So I'd rather "violence, vulgarity, and steroids" than a should be sex offender in office!
What a choice, Linda the figure-head CEO of a company she bankrupted, which promotes womanizing and anti-gay, anti-arab sentiments and Chris Dodd, who is obviously serving special and his own interests.
I don't like either, but I can see why Republicans like Linda...
"Dump Dodd"
It's time we get rid of the long term corruption that resides in Washington, Dodd, Rangle, and others like them. It doesen't matter which party they are in, corruption is corruption and needs to be rooted out!!!
Vote these liberal -progressive - facist - Mother F ucker scumbags out in 2010 and 2012 !
You are playing the game of the pot calling the kettle black.
YOU and people like you are a disappintment to our country's founders.
Simmons will be the Republican Senate candidate and he'll beat Dodd quite handily I suspect.
Just the man I want to trust!
Under the bill Murphy voted for a family of making $175,000 will have to pay about $35,000 a year for their health care.
Murphy will still pay about $6,000 for his. So will Dodd.
Murphy is screwing you over big time.
This health care bill will kill off the remaining insurance industry in this state along with its jobs. But Murphy does not represent Connecticut.
He represents Nancy Pelosi.
Murphy and Dodd are poison to Connecticut.
You must understand. The Democratic health care bills mean you will get much less in care and it will cost you much more. You WILL wait for care in line behind illegal aliens.
Able, I do not think Jonah Goldberg is sleaze. (I do think that John Kerry is.) I only brought up his name because he has written some good articles and books and has made some very valid points about what fascism really is. Most of the people throwing around the word "fascism" have no idea what it means, are unable to place it in its historical context, and wouldn't know it if it was staring them in the face. They do not understand that it is not a "right wing" institution. Nor do they understand that many of the present administration's policies are bringing us closer to fascism than most other administrations (with possibly a couple notable exceptions).
While both you and I agree that Obama is not the President we wished to see, to believe he lacks experience is laughable and not supported by any data.
'If he is a moderate or conservative, he gets derided. The hypocrisy is amazing.'
He is a moderate. The belief that he is on the, 'far left' or is a 'progressive' is again not supported by evidence, specifically when one analyzes his agenda and what has become accomplished. He campaigned on Center-Left positions, and that is why he got large swathes of progressives, and moderate Republicans. Please show elements of his agenda/proposals that are linked to 'far left' concepts, those within the Anarchist, Socialist, Left Libertarian, Green factions. Now, please do not analyze actions undertaken while campaigning, for those are null and void for obvious reasons.
'I only brought up his name because he has written some good articles and books and has made some very valid points about what fascism really is.'
Having read his book, it is wildly inaccurate, slanderous and thinly referenced. For many of his claims are based on the idea of statism, nationalism or jingoism which exist within both left and right ideologies. He also attempts to, with varying degrees, tie National Socialism in with ACTUAL Socialism, which are not the same.
'Most of the people throwing around the word "fascism" have no idea what it means, are unable to place it in its historical context, and wouldn't know it if it was staring them in the face.'
I agree. He also does the same in his books. Now, this is not to say fascism cannot exist within the left, for it did in Soviet Russia, but while labeled Communist, they were a Stalinist nation and that is rooted in some very fundamental conservative trademarks. It happens that his package was wrapped neatly with a quasi anti-Capitalist bow.
Now, please if you will explain to me which decisions by the present administration have brought us closer to fascism, and couple that with what elements of the previous administration has as well.
That is all I ask for from anyone, so thank you.
'Able, with respect to Obama being a moderate, we are just going to have to agree to disagree because in my opinion he is far left.'
You can have an opinion, but if it is not rooted in actual fact, then it shows a lack of understanding for the political spectrum, its many facets and diversity amongst its ideologies.
'The "most liberal senator of 2007," Mr. "I'd like to spread the wealth around," "I happen to be a proponent of the single payer system" has not changed his tune.'
If he is the 'most liberal Senator of 2007,' than what would you call Bernard Sanders of Vermont? Who mind you, is a Democratic Socialist? Now, as I stated earlier, you're making references to campaign talks, and not legislation. For him to say he advocates single-payer healthcare, and then not advocate it while in office shows that he is not a proponent of it. Lieberman stated he wished for universal coverage as well, yet they all do and say many things to get elected.
Now, if he were truly, 'spreading the wealth around', we wouldn't have a staggering income gap, rampant poverty, homelessness, etc. He is a Capitalist, and do not let it fool you, the last I looked the banks were bailed out, not the people.
'As for policies that lean toward fascism, how about government takeover of industry.'
This does not explain how it is fascist. A government takeover of an industry also requires the peoples to control the means of production, and in this case they do not.
'squashing private rights of contract (in favor of gifts to unions that make huge political contributions to Obama).'
Explain how this has not been done in any other administration, or for any other elected official.
'attempting to take over health care thus increasing centralized government control over every aspect of citizens lives.'
Government healthcare, in the way we're going to see it, is not hostile, nor a takeover, nor fascist. Would you state that Canada is a fascist nation?
'attempting to stifle dissent by asking citizens to spy on each other and report "fishy" claims to the government.'
This was done under the Patriot Act, which mind you, another President signed into office. Secondly, dissent has been stifled under every administration, unless you happen to forget the Alien and Sedition Acts or Nixon keeping individuals under tight surveillance? We live in a police state and always have.
'attempting to stifle conflicting opinions through the fairness doctrine and internet regulation.'
How is the fairness doctrine fascist in its nature and practice? Also, you do realize that it does not exist any longer, correct?
'As for the experience, I do not think that the first term senator/ former "community organizer"/ never had a real job in his life/ couldn't even make a decision in the state senate so he had to vote "present" 129 times Obama, had any substantial relevant experience before he ran for president and I have not seen anything to convince me otherwise. '
Please explain to me, how being a Community Organizer, which mind you is a PAID position and one that I held for many years while in law school, is NOT an actual job? You lack a scope that is beyond belief.
