Biden to help Dodd raise campaign cash

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – Campaign officials for Connecticut Sen. Christopher Dodd say Vice President Joe Biden will visit Hartford on Dec. 11 for a fundraiser for the senator, who is trailing in the polls in his 2010 re-election bid.
Dodd’s campaign says Biden will attend a $500-per-person luncheon at the Connecticut Science Center.
Dodd, the Senate banking committee chairman, has been struggling for months with low approval numbers amid the faltering economy and controversy surrounding mortgages he received in a VIP program from Countrywide Financial Corp.
Biden was Fairfield on Oct. 5 to tout work by Dodd and Rep. Jim Himes to bring federal stimulus money to the state.
President Barack Obama also helped the Democratic senator raise about $1 million at an event in Stamford Oct. 23.
