Senate will investigate Army shootings

WASHINGTON (AP) – The chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee says he plans to begin a congressional investigation of the shootings at Fort Hood.
An Army major, Nidal Malik Hasan, is suspected of killing 13 people and wounding 29 others at the Army post in Texas.
Sen. Joe Lieberman says he wants to determine whether the shootings constitute a terrorist attack. He says he also wants to find out whether the Army missed warning signs that Hasan was becoming extreme in his Islamist views.
The Connecticut independent says if Hasan was showing signs of becoming an Islamist radical, the Army should have shown “zero tolerance” and discharged him.
Lieberman appeared on “Fox News Sunday.”

If a Christian or a Jew did the same thing Leiberman the Zionist would consider it just a mistake or a crime. A muslim does it and its automatically terrorism.
So, the Zionist who accepted millions in campaign contributions from the Zionist lobby is worried about someone with extreme Islamic views? How ironic. Is he worried about the extreme evangelical christians in the army? What about the extreme views of the leaders of Israel?
This is sad and disgusting. Leiberman should take a long hard look in the mirror be ashamed of himself.
The government is taking this SLOW....GOD friggin forbid they ARENT politically correct with this crap.........
Actually, due to the US Military's continued use of 'moral waivers,' white supremacists have filtered into the military at an astounding rate.
'OMG Lieberman the Zionist!'
He is for the State of Israel, is he not?
'Where's the Bush anti-muslim terrorist comments?'
lol
Actually... radical rascists don't last very long in uniform and usually do not complete their first enlistment. I can honestly say that during my time in service I never came across one above the rank of specialist.
Now... I am not going to make any sort of claim that no rascism at all exists in uniform as that would be obviously false as every recruit brings with him/her the prejudaces an social view of their place of origin.
A kid from the farm in Iowa and a kid from the Compton area of Los Angelas will obviously both bring the baggage of their former enviroment with them into the military but they will learn to deal with others differant from themselves as they have no choice. Usually by the end of basic training, a degree of acceptance unheard of in the civilian world has become part of the psyche.
Heh... just was reminiscing a bit. The last squad I commanded before I got out consisted of two caucasions, two latinos, two blacks, a Choctow, a Polynesian, and a fellow from Thailand. Was a darned good group of men who as tight knit as a family despite their widly disparate origins.
Anyway... to address your statement directly, yes.. I'm sure some kids with backgrounds involving white supremacists are enlisting but guess what, most of them will grow past that during the experience and those that do not will have a very short military career.
There were PLENTY of "flags" about this friggin guy...the ARMY should have acted on it......
And to the "terrorist" himself, YES I use the word "terrorist" because his motives to do what he did warrants it...maybe the spineless who investigate this WONT for the "fear" of "offending".... anybody who volunteers for military service knowing FULL well of their so called "religious beliefs" KNOWS that in this time of "war" in the region where we are fighting...HE should have NEVER went into the military...he had a private practice making good $$$ ...his motives are pretty damn CLEAR to me.......
The armed services better be aware of some of these people and exactly WHERE and what jobs they have...MORE of this WILL happen........

He accepts money from their lobby -- enough said.
"Where's the Bush anti-muslim terrorist comments? "
If you read between the lines, you just posted them.
"You're so predictable I watch these stories just to see what you'll post. "
Just as predictable as...
1. Janie
2. Independent Observer
3. Dad
4. Anonymous
5. Anonymous2
6. DisAble
7. You, as you are probably one of the above who can't formulate a cogent argument.
"We have a pool at work to see what little catch phrase you'll trot out next."
Good for you. I didn't think anyone cared.
"God, you're a pathetic piece of human waste."
Because I think Leiberman is a racist scum bag. Good, then if that makes me a "pathetic piece of human wast" I am proud to accept that title.
I'm sure you are one of the "OMG!" a Muslim shot an American crowd. Good for you.
What next?
Frankly, I see what happened as a man shooting others, not a Muslim shooting others. You all hate anyone who is Muslim and brand him/her as a terrorist for what reason? Because a Muslim downed the Twin Towers? What about the Crusades? How was they not terrorism? What about the Inquisition?
You all spin off your talking points from Rush, Hanity, O'Reily, and Beck, yet fail to look at the full picture. Because these men, and the Republican Party tell you to hate Muslims and label them as terrorists you all do so when the fact is that not one of you has the right to draw such a conclusion.
Janie -- I am not obsessed with you, but I do feel sorry for you.
When a Muslim goes on a terror rampage or the like, they are encouraged and treated as heroes by many in the Muslim community. They should be examined carefully for their associations and I don't really care if it makes them feel bad.
Well, when you only want to hear the voices you like...
'Actually... radical rascists don't last very long in uniform and usually do not complete their first enlistment. I can honestly say that during my time in service I never came across one above the rank of specialist.'
Actually, according to new reports, this is quite the opposite. The same can be said for members of the Bloods, Crips, etc. So while your impression is the opposite, it is not supported by well-documented fact.
'HE should have NEVER went into the military...he had a private practice making good $$$ ...his motives are pretty damn CLEAR to me.......'
So, he believed his expertise could be used within the military to assist those with PTSD, etc. and he shouldn't be commended for that?
'It is interesting how the left wingers are starting their spin game on this forum.'
The only thing I spin is you right round baby.
'Able You may have misunderstood my reference to Nazis, we were at war with them in WW2 as we are at war with Muslims today.'
I was aware of your statement, but used its reference to address a larger point. Also, thank you for stating the truth that we are at war with Muslims and not terrorists. We're fighting a religious war, something this country apparently 'never did.' Except for of course.. eradicating Natives.
'When a Muslim goes on a terror rampage or the like, they are encouraged and treated as heroes by many in the Muslim community.'
So are those who are Christian and kill doctors who perform abortions. Religion is a nutty thing.
What reports are you referring to? Provide a link if you don't mind because I for one find such a statement very hard to believe based on both the empirical evidence of my own years of service and from spending countless hours working with currently serving personnel.
Zarqawi for example was an equal opportunity butcher... he could care less if his target was Shiite, Sunni, or coalition.
Take the misguided notion that international terrorism is conducted as a means of bringing attention to Palestine.
Contrary to what many think, the rest of the Arab world doesn't give two hoots about the Palestinians... those poor folks are looked down on as being the Middle East's trailor trash as far as the average Saudi or Jordanian is concerned.
That being said, Hammas provides a convenient method for assorted national actors in the reason to tweak Israel's nose without having to worry about the IAF destroying their public works so they have no shortage of funding.
My point? Sociopaths who find themselves a cause need no other excuse than simply "because" to do what they do and this jacktard down at Ft. Hood is going to be yet another example.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/18/washington/18web-troops.html
That would account for 17,000 additional troops, not including any private contractors, security, et. al.
/facepalm Come on buddy... use some of those little gray cells I know you have in abundance eh?
You wrote
"Actually, according to new reports, this is quite the opposite. The same can be said for members of the Bloods, Crips, etc. So while your impression is the opposite, it is not supported by well-documented fact."
And I asked you for reports which supported your statement concerning rascism in the military.
So, now that I am aware of WHICH you speak of, here we go.

http://usmilitary.about.com/od/justicelawlegislation/a/gangs.htm
Far as gang members in service go... well, with a couple million folks in uniform between all the branches of service and their reserve/gaurd components it's no surprise some folks with less than honerable backgrounds have gotten in. Heck, long as they don't have a felony conviction such individuals have as much a right to serve as the next person.
I do know more than a few guys that came in from rather lousy conditions and you know what, most of them ran the straight and narrow and made the best of the opportunity the Army provided to move past the circumstances of their birth. The few who imagined they could continue their thuggish ways soon discovered that their NCO's and officers had little humor for such things and either cleaned up their act or found themselves chaptered out.
The Nation, which you attempt to ridicule, is also the oldest news magazine in the United States, winner of countless awards and widely respected throughout the world for its journalistic credibility.
Now, please also show me how Matt Kennard's articles are backhanded, not thoroughly researched or supported.
'Far as gang members in service go... well, with a couple million folks in uniform between all the branches of service and their reserve/gaurd components it's no surprise some folks with less than honerable backgrounds have gotten in.'
Then by that logic, white supremacists would be allowed in, ergo the article has credibility. So, while you can continue to use anecdotal evidence to support your claims, I will use fact.
SO...there WILL be alcoholics, drug abusers, gang members etc...
If there is ANY friggin "ism" in the military its because there are the SAME "isms" anywhere else............
That is correct, America is not at war with Islam. America is at war with Terrorists who just happen to be Islamic and do not represent the majority of their religious community.
The previous administration apparently won, as they attempted to portray all Muslims as radical terrorists. This same technique was used by Hitler to secure his strong hold over the German people when he needed to find a scapegoat for the situation the country was in after WW1. The German's bought his anti-Jewish b.s. hook, line and sinker.
Hitler controlled Germany by tapping into people's fears and using them to his own benefit at the expense of those who are "different". Just like Bush and the republicans have tapped into your fears, used them to their benefit at the expense of the Islamic world.
