(WTNH) – Ned Lamont took on first full day in the Exploratory Phase of running for Governor lecturing students about finding a better way to run state government. He said voters made a mistake in 2006 by not electing New Haven Mayor John DeStefano as Governor.
Lamont has been lecturing here at Central Connecticut State University for the past couple of years; it’s earned him the title “Distinguished Professor of Philosophy and Political Science.”
His lecture Thursday was titled “An Entrepreneur’s Approach to Government,” but it was clear he was taking shots at Governor Rell and the legislature.
“We ended up with a budget that is it’s bankrupting the state,” said Lamont.
He also held out the city of New Haven as a bright spot for government entrepreneurial leadership and later said voters made a mistake by not electing John DeStefano Governor last time.
Lamont: “I think if the voters really paid attention I hope that the media really focuses on the issues that I confront; I think they’ll see they want somebody who’s a little more entrepreneurial and more leadership.”
Davis: “So you think the voters made a mistake in not voting for DeStefano last time over Rell?”
Lamont: “I think that we’ve done pretty well in New Haven; if I had to replicate that experience, [it] wouldn’t bother me at all yes.”
Also today he again declined to rule out spending his own fortune on another campaign.
“I’m going to stay within the rules of the ‘Exploratory Committee.’ I’m going to expect nothing but small money donations and, oh, I’ll decide what I do next, once I get to the ‘Candidate Committee,’ I think I’ll leave it at that,” he said.

The Democrats have been doing as they please (raising taxes/fees) and not making any cuts to state spending. They have crammed THEIR budgets down Rell's throat for the past few years due to their super majority in both Houses.
If Connecticut really wants to fix it's problems the voters need to give the Democratic Party leaders the boot.
DeStefano has run New Haven into the ground. His fiscal responsibility is NIL !!!! He completely ignored New Haven during his gubernatorial campaign and then turned around and rewarded his failed campaign staffers with jobs in the City. Dep. Director of Economic Dev., analyst postition in Management & Budget, CAO etc. Look into it for yourself if you don't believe me....
Ned is a big government, tax raising, spend your hard earned money, liberal progressive socialist. The last thing CT or any state needs is someone this lacking.
I think Tuesdays election results show people are tired of his and Obama's type.
"Dump Dodd"
As unemployment keeps rising I think more people will realize that the Democrats are not good at economics.
" the voters made a mistake NOT voting for SANCTUARY CITY 3rd world city mayor DeStefano".??????
Just making that idiotic and pathetic statement ALONE..should disqualify his A$$ from running....
LOL
Ah, because Lamont Digital Systems wasn't started by him or anything.
'We would also have a "sanctuary" state with ALL the illegal aliens having state ID's and full state benefits.'
Oh. You mean dignity for human beings?
The same reason any human being deserves housing, food, water or any other element that represents a humane society instead of a cruel dystopia.
Lamont entered the cable television industry, managing the startup of Cablevision's operation in Fairfield County, Connecticut. In 1984, he founded, and is currently president and chairman of, Lamont Digital Systems, a builder and operator of advanced telecommunications networks for college campuses and residential gated communities, with over 150,000 subscribers. The company's finances are PRIVATE, though it currently has 35 employees, down from 100 in 2001.His most recent salary was reported as $546,000 per year. A trade publication reported Lamont and his partners tried unsuccessfully to sell the firm two years ago.
He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and now has a silver foot in his mouth.
Yet he still runs his own company, that HE started. Pleas explain how this does not make him a qualified businessman.
'I call it cowardice. It would be more noble for them to address the dystopian issues in their native environs.'
The cowardice comes from Americans who instead of embracing individuals who for many reasons flee their homeland, demonize them. For shame.
That covers MAYBE 20% that come here....lol
The rest are here SOLEY for the semi "free ride" they get here.....
Depending on your definition. If the United States doesn't stop destroying local economies, muscling their way into other nations natural resources and so forth, we'll be living in one sooner than you wish to believe.
'That covers MAYBE 20% that come here....lol'
Can you show the facts to back this up?
'The rest are here SOLEY for the semi "free ride" they get here..... '
Individuals come here for copious reasons, amongst them to escape persecution and come to a land that, for the most part has colonized their land through economic partnerships. When the most influential land in the world has your nation in an economic stranglehold, you must leave in order to survive.
