Palin receives $1.25M for book retainer

Anchorage, Alaska (AP) – Sarah Palin reports she received $1.25 million as a retainer for her upcoming book “Going Rogue.”

The former Alaska governor says in her financial disclosure statement released Tuesday that she received the money from publisher HarperCollins.

Palin, the former GOP vice presidential candidate, resigned in July. She kept a fairly low profile as she worked with her book’s ghostwriter.

“Going Rogue” catapulted to No. 1 on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com after HarperCollins announced in late September it had moved up the release date of 1.5 million copies from spring to Nov. 17.

The book is currently listed at No. 6 on Amazon.com and No. 11 on Barnes & Noble.com.

Palin will appear on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” the day before the book’s release of her book.

Good for her, I hope she gets enough money to over come the unwarranted media assaults on her.

I think she would make a better President than Obama and hope she runs in 2012.

Wow, someone who does not even understand that foreign policy is more than Putin flying over her state is good for America. Oh by the way, to get to DC, Putin did not fly over Alaska, Moscow to DC is over Greenland. Good for her to attract so much money. I hope Bristol gets some to support her daughter.

IO - I wouldn't say she represents mainstream American, for if that was the case, we'd have far too much ignorance to keep within our borders. But, to deny she represents a part of American society would be foolish, for she has support.

What is a "Real American"? To the best of my knowledge the only "real Americans" were the native peoples who we, the Anglo/Europeans shoved onto reservations and condemned to a life of squalor and disease.

I wouldn’t say Palin is stupid. I would however contend that she is an ignorant self-opportunist who propagated whatever lie or half/truth she could in order to get ahead. Insofar as the book, good for her, however this alone does not redeem her.
