From what I have read on this and other Connecticut blogs--- most people do not like either Dodd or Obama. It makes me wonder if the media gets its permission from the Obama Administration before they print the glorifying stories about Obama. Because the media seems to be the only ones who likes what is going on.
The only news source that seems to not get permission is Fox News and the Wall Street Journal.
What has this country become that we can not trust the Government nor the media (excluding FNC/WSJ and Drudge).

Not that it's any big secret, but here's an article about the media favoritism shown to Obama during the campaign last year.

Only a blind and deaf person that can't read braille wouldn't realize it, but there are those who insist that Obama's coverage was treated the same as McCain's...

Oddly enough, it was Fox News that had the most balanced coverage of the two candidates...

Ordinary Citizen -
Thank you for pointing out a failure in my message - I don't really have a problem with Dodd's age, but rather the fact that he was voted in by my daughter's grandparents' generation.... (aka my parents) - the real problem with that is he has been in too long...
I will not take away the gopod he may have done first in office, like Ted Kennedy may have made some significant contributions in the 1960's, BUT part of the problem with Dodd, like may leaders, they defend their programs and policies even when they (the policies) are no longer the solution, but are now the problem!
30 years in the same office is way too long, my daughter's grand parents voted him in (not really because the family was in MA at the time), but now it's time for my daughter's parents to vote him out!

When is Obama going to make a political decision about Afghanistan???
This Dodd stuff is crap and the President should be addressing more important issues. He should determine if we should win or not and let the Generals run with the ball. They know how to fight and win or retreat base on the political decision. Obama has no clue how to do either. Therefore he should make the political decision and get out of the way and let the Generals do what they do best.
Has anyone noticed how the media is standing down at Obama's request on the important matters that confront our nation.

While I may agree to you to some extent, we must also realize that this decision could spell the death of many Americans and non-Americans alike. Would you rather a rash decision be made?

'He should determine if we should win or not and let the Generals run with the ball.'

You cannot win in that nation or any nation, when you are unable to gain the respect of its inhabitants.

'Has anyone noticed how the media is standing down at Obama's request on the important matters that confront our nation.'

Has anyone noticed that they did the same for seven years of Bush, the majority of Clinton's term, Bush I's term, Reagen's term, etc. Their corporate mentality reduces their credibility.

Regarding the additional troop buildup in Afghanistan, here is a link to an opinion piece I found thru/on CNN.

I don't know this guy's background, political leanings etc, nor do I care. He truly has summed up the case in point for the actual NEED to increase the troop level there or seriously risk failure at many levels.

I am not a war monger, I'm a US Navy Submarine Vet.

I know that there alot of people eagerly dis-avow the use of Military Force at any time.

The stick-your-head-in-the-sand-and-hope-it-goes-away approach is a critical failure of the liberal left. It was the same approach Clinton had as well.

This is not the time to muse and ponder about Gen. Machrystal's troop request. Time is, quite seriously, of the essence at this point there.

'Two leftwing National Socialists

How are National Socialists leftwing, in any stretch of the imagination? To claim otherwise is to ignore history and political science study.

'- while I do agree with your assessment of he press, sometimes war requires quick descisions.'

A quick decision is never necessary, especially within the war of choice context.

'If Obama took the war seriously, he'd either be in Washington making choices or at least choose someone close to him to call the shots, but he does neither.....'

So, within this thought process, if he decides to leave Afghanistan, than it would be taking the war seriously as well. Do I believe he should do so, yes. Do I believe he will, no. Troops will be sent, and he is debating as to the amount that is necessary to use.

As journalist F. William Engdahl states;

'The US military is in Afghanistan for two reasons. First to restore and control the world’s largest supply of opium for the world heroin markets and to use the drugs as a geopolitical weapon against opponents, especially Russia. That control of the Afghan drug market is essential for the liquidity of the bankrupt and corrupt Wall Street financial mafia.'

'I am not a war monger, I'm a US Navy Submarine Vet.'

By stating this, you're attempting to deflect the notion that as a military veteran, you would be pro-war, or assume that individuals would cast you as this. Though, one could say you are.

'I know that there alot of people eagerly dis-avow the use of Military Force at any time.'

Pacifism is merely a tool for the use of state control.

'This is not the time to muse and ponder about Gen. Machrystal's troop request. Time is, quite seriously, of the essence at this point there.'

It was also 'not the time' to ponder whether invading Iraq was a good decision, or Afghanistan for that matter. When is the 'time?' Never?

'The stick-your-head-in-the-sand-and-hope-it-goes-away approach is a critical failure of the liberal left. It was the same approach Clinton had as well.'

Ah, so the wars and military involvement in Somalia, Kosovo, Iraq (No-Fly Zones/Operation Desert Fox), Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Haiti, Liberia, Central African Republic, Albania, Congo, Gabon, Sierra Leone, Cambodia, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Tanzania, Afghanistan, Sudan, East Timor, and Yemen were not real, and did not occur between 1993-2000 while Clinton was President? You can claim he was a dove, when in fact he was a hawk, and evidence shall always prove you wrong.

Your views are based in grand illusions of utopian ideology and my views are based on the reality of the world we live in.

Never will we agree on the way the world is and the way we wish it were.

But having said that, George H.W. Bush (#41) is the one who landed troops in Somalia as part of a UN mission, Bush #41 also committed the US to the Iraq no-fly zones,

The rest of your list are UN missions as well if I remember correctly. Except for Haiti, since Clinton wanted to put Aristide back in power to keep him quiet so he wouldn't talk about the Democrat's involvement in Aristide's drug-money operations.

But again, as I said before we believe in 2 different ideologies (and not political ones) of utopia and reality.

Neither of us is 'right or wrong' just two different sets of life experiences.

It's pathetic how some show NO shame. Dodd knows he's an empty suit who should get out of office, and Obama knows he's backing a crooked horse, yet they'll come here for photo ops with those fake smiles and sleep like babies at night in the comfort millions of our tax dollars provide - FIRE THEM! As for the war, Obama had ALL the answers when he campaigned. Do you recall how he knew EXACTLY what he'd do the moment he took office regarding these issues when asked about them in the debates? But now that he's starting to lose his fairytale hold on millions of people, he's just a typical politician now who's willing to let other people's children DIE while he waits out the election. I have to believe there's a warm spot waiting for him when his time comes.

'Your views are based in grand illusions of utopian ideology and my views are based on the reality of the world we live in.'

They're actually based in irrefutable facts, and can be backed up by such, so that is why I do it. Your concept of Utopian society is an abject contrast to that for which I speak of. Your views are based in a fabricated reality of consumerism, where as mine is based on tangible actions.

'Never will we agree on the way the world is and the way we wish it were.'

If you fail to talk about the abject failures of the system, and continue to not have an open dialogue with me, or others about how you wish to see the world.. then you are correct.

'But having said that, George H.W. Bush (#41) is the one who landed troops in Somalia as part of a UN mission, Bush #41 also committed the US to the Iraq no-fly zones'

I'm aware that Somalia was an action undertaken by GHW Bush, but you made the claim that Clinton was not in fact a warmonger, when he stayed within the nation till 1995. The Iraqi No-Fly Zones existed till 2003, which spanned all of Clinton's Presidency and included bombing raids within the nation. So my points, as documented, stand.

'The rest of your list are UN missions as well if I remember correctly. Except for Haiti, since Clinton wanted to put Aristide back in power to keep him quiet so he wouldn't talk about the Democrat's involvement in Aristide's drug-money operations.'

They are actions undertaken by the United States military with intervention by U.N. and national contingency forces. So, while you're attempting to discredit the claims that Clinton was a warmonger, you're failing to realize he was the one undergoing them.

'But again, as I said before we believe in 2 different ideologies (and not political ones) of utopia and reality.'

You obviously don't understand ideologies, or what mine is.

'Neither of us is 'right or wrong' just two different sets of life experiences..'

Please explain to me what you believe my life experience to be? I am wondering how my experience as a lower middle class child, is any different than millions of those within the United States alone? The differences between us are my compassion towards those who struggle, and your inability to effectively portray an emotional connection to them.
