Obama pitches healthcare plan

Washington (AP) – President Barack Obama says critics of his health care overhaul are working from “a familiar Washington script that we’ve seen many times before” that favors politics over policy.
Obama on Tuesday said his opponents are trying to slow health care changes in the hopes it fails. He says those critics favor insurance companies over consumers. He says a delay fails to put the interests of Americans first.
Obama says he wants to sign legislation that expands coverage, improves quality and brings down costs.
Obama has spent recent days defending his campaign for a health care bill before Congress’ August recess.
He will take to the airwaves Wednesday night during a primetime press conference to make his case to the American public.

Misread it.
Furthermore, why is there such urgency - why does this have to be done by August. Instead of taking the time to come up with the right plan (reducing costs), this is being rushed through. These could add 2 trillion to the deficit and raise taxes significantly but it has to be done in a month???
I was trying to be optimistic about Obama's presidency but the out of control spending, the rushed through stimulus (that amounted to nothing), and now the rushing through of health care reform has made me very nervous about him.
No friggin thanks!
Besides, if they are the ones who provide your healthcare, AND make the laws, they will then be able to tell you what you can eat, do for fun, etc. That's not the America our forefathers envisioned by any means.
NO FRIGGGIN THANKS!
Besides, it's wholly unconstitutional, not that that matters to liberals.
They have it free in Canada and England I think I heard.
I just hope that whatever they do they just do it and stop stalling around

Yeah, I guess caring about others isn't very American, even though the prevailing assumption is that we're the most 'giving' nation in the world. Except to our own citizens.
Show me where half of the elements we have are in the Constitution? That PIECE OF PAPER was meant to be a living document as well, and this is not a Constitutional issue, it is a fundamental societal issue. It in no way contradicts what is IN the Constitution, and I'd love to see you prove otherwise, with actual scholars on the subjects for your citations.
It is a human right, not just delegated to those living in America, but to all, and for their respective governments to offer them so that they may have the chance to rise up from the debt that BigPharm and Insurance companies perpetrate upon them.
'You liberal twits hide the fcat that you want it as a "right" for one thing only. Too say with a smile on your face that every leech, parasite and illegal immigrant has a "right" to gouge the taxpayer more while contributing nothing.'
It is 'to' by the way, but grammatical mistakes aside. People do have a right to be healthy, and not be gouged by the fraud that is Insurance. We ought to spend more money on protecting from diseases, then finding cures for ones that were created because of inadequate care. We pump more money into creating drugs than providing our citizens with adequate health and food. It is a sham.
You want to claim that everyone is a 'leach', yet you do nothing to back up your assertions. Social Security is a leach system, so should we deny those who put in their time, but no longer are? Free education is a leach system, so why should we have that? Fire care, Police service, EMT service help out those who 'do nothing for society,' so should we cut those too?
'Painting, cleaning, public space projects, cleaning streets and parks. Or is that unconstitutional for the poor dears?'
What is a 'dear?' I know what a deer is, y'know the woodland creatures who's habitats are encroached upon by human development? You're making absurdest claims because of your own inability to adequately back up an argument you know to be fundamentally flawed.
' Have them rebuild abandoned buildings and homes and learn a trade and give something back for what they get. But it will never happen, because democrats thrive on giveaways to stay in power. No freebies to your voter base and where would you be. Bread and circuses, thats the Obama Imperial mantra.'
I agree that plans like those should be implemented more thoroughly then they are now, and not just relegated to non-profits who's budgets are severely stretched.
I'm not sure what 'voter base' you assume that I have, as I'm not a Democrat, or Republican and vote for members of various mainstream and independent parties. So you might want to explain this one further, or are you unaware that more than two parties and ideologies exist within this country?
'How about 8 hours labor a day in return for welfare and healthcare? '
You act as if many wouldn't jump at this opportunity, especially if learning a valuable skill were to be involved. While Americans are apathetic, it directly linked to the way in which programs that would help them in their situations are drastically cut. Leading to higher crime rates.
'Thank a Liberal next time you see them!!!!!'
You're under the assumption that all Liberals voted for Obama, all Liberals are in favor of this particular healthcare plan and that all Liberals are at fault.
They have it free in Canada and England I think I heard.
I just hope that whatever they do they just do it and stop stalling around

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE HEALTH CARE!!!!! we will all be paying for it through taxes. THE GOV. is NOT my KEEPER. Don't look to Gov. to solve all your problems.
'With the public’s trust in his handling of health care tanking (50%-44% of Americans disapprove), the White House has launched a new phase of its strategy designed to pass Obamacare: all Obama, all the time. As part of that effort, Obama hosted a conference call with leftist bloggers urging them to pressure Congress to pass his health plan as soon as possible.
During the call, a blogger from Maine said he kept running into an Investors Business Daily article that claimed Section 102 of the House health legislation would outlaw private insurance. He asked: “Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?” President Obama replied: “You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about.” (This is a truly disturbing admission by the President, especially considering that later in the call, Obama promises yet again: “If you have health insurance, and you like it, and you have a doctor that you like, then you can keep it. Period.” How can Obama keep making this promise if he is not familiar with the health legislation that is being written in Congress?'
NOTE: HE SAID THIS TODAY!!!
Is THIS how you "PITCH YOUR HEALTHCARE "PLAN"??????
The answer to the question posed to obama is YES the CURRENT draft of the law which passed the house says EXACTLY that: YOU WILL BE FORCED INTO OBAMA CARE... and stripping you of the right to choose your own heathcare is EXACTLY what good ol' barry and his handlers in congress intend to do.
WAKE UP AND STAND UP AMERICA!
Thats right, we all have health care, but we can't all afford it. So, the poor who for one reason or another don't have insurance will just continue to do what they do now, come into the Emergency Room for free care. And we, the American people will keep footing their bill.
So, why not make the system transparent and offer all people the same benefits of society at a reasonable cost.
I hardly agree with all of "obamanation's" comments about people on welfare. I believe that in his less refined terms he was trying to say that rather than pay people to stay home we should require them to work. I couldn't agree more. However, the reason many on welfare don't work is the simple fact that they make more money not working. The jobs many of them would be able to get pay so low that it doesn't pay to work if you can live off the government.
Rather than malign people on welfare maybe we should encourage business owners to pay wages that people such as these can live on. Once people on welfare are able to get jobs paying wages above poverty, then we can talk about stripping their benefits.
"I totally agree with your opinion that this more drama by the drama queens who have brought us this dope until 1/20/2013 when he will be sent back to Chicago and replaced with someone with a brain and who does not have to listen to Pelosi or Reid for advice."
Oh, lets replace him with someone like "w" who spent his youth frying his brain with cocaine and alcohol. Or better yet, Sarah Palin ... wink!
Obama is just more of the same old problem. He was going o turn the world over with all of his campaign promises and 53% of those who voted fell for it. He has back-pedaled (lied) on just about all of his promises.
But scaring people into supporting his version of the federal stimulus package was just as bad. He caused the market to drop further and more jobs to be cut with his own actions as well. Look at every time he announced that 'the economy is getting worse and we have to act fast' in order to strong-arm both Houses to pass his agenda, the market almost always dropped further. When he kept his mouth shut for a week or two, the market would have a bit of rebound and then he would scream and cry wolf again and the same thing would happen again.
Yeah we all know Bush isn't going to be noted as the best President but he won't be the worst. But at least he didn't want to nationalize part of GM and now the Healthcare industry.
The Gov't running anything is a bad thing. Yeah the health care system is screwed up, but fix what is wrong with it. Don't nationalize it, don't make the wealthy pay for 50% of the astronomical cost of this Democratic boondoggle. That won't wake anything better, it's just cannon-fodder for the false prophet to proclaim "Look What I Did... "
If nothing else, Obama is just going to be another Neville Chamberlain proclaiming 'Peace in Our Time.." about his plan and look what that was worth.
It certainly won't be FREE! Anyone who still thinks that is ignorant! If he made his plan so that you don't have to pay a bill up front, he'll tax you and everybody else to pay that bill!
Obama has already reduced the amount of money that Medicare pays my doctors so that I have to pay more. I'm on SS Disability and this is an extreme hardship. Now, he wants to reduce benefits to seniors such as by-pass surgeries and other health care benefits so that he can balance the Medicare budget more easily. If us seniors die off more quickly, of course it will be easier on the Medicare budget. I guess, even though I run my own business, I'm now considered an unproductive member of society, based solely on my age!
The man has lied to all of us and it's high time citizens become aware.
You're citing The Heritage Foundation which is far from partisan on this issue, so your facts are already skewed and invalid. The organization with members behind such wonderful adventures as; The Iran-Contra scandal, The Discovery Institute who attempts to implement intelligent design into school rooms, Promoting tobacco to minors, Eli Lilly and other insurance profiteers. Their 2006 budget was rife with 'amazing' groups of companies such as; Allstate, Exxon-Mobil, Pfizer, Altria Group, Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis, and Bristol-Myers Squibb. What an impressive organization of crooks, thieves and corporate vagabonds!
'Yeah we all know Bush isn't going to be noted as the best President but he won't be the worst. But at least he didn't want to nationalize part of GM and now the Healthcare industry.'
I agree, but Bush also wished to make national defense a major priority instead of using the money wisely in helping the citizens.
'The Gov't running anything is a bad thing.'
The government EXISTING is a bad thing.
The term 'free' is a misnomer, especially under the current plan, that is why the term UNIVERSAL is more appropriate. While I am not a fan of the current system he chooses (I am a an avid single-payer believer), it does have benefits.
Just answer one question: How can the FACT that --YOU WILL BE FORCED INTO OBAMACARE-- be skewed???? It is the CORNERSTONE of the whole scheme.
It doesn't WORK if people retain their right to choose their own healthcare. Businesses and individuals will be forced and if need be coerced into compliance.
It's right there in the bill that has passed the house. Its in plain english..I'm SURE you read it right?? I mean, ya know, the whole FACT thing you always harp on leads me to no other conclusion.
I'm not arguing that Obama's care is either CORRECT or WRONG, I'm arguing that universal health care, and single-payer is the best option. That option is not available, and only Dennis Kucinich's amendment to the bill allows for stats to choose.
So your criticisms aren't even directed at what I wrote about. So good job Cowboy.

The main purpose of the government is oppression.
Obama won't go after his lobbing group.
We do NOT live on a planet that allows for anything in our lives to be totally "FREE"......
And to be lame to think that THAT is going to happen is comical........
the day that everyone of us on the face of this pathetic planet, can wake up & NOT go earn a friggin paycheck, is the day you all can whine about FREE healthcare........
LOL
