Conn. donors for Dodd
Posted by ConnPolitics.tv Editor on July 21st, 2009
(WTNH) – Of the 465 itemized individual contributions given to Sen. Chris Dodd’s re-election campaign in the first quarter of this year, only five Connecticut residents gave a donation to the senator, according to records posted online by the Federal Election Commission. Donations from state residents have picked up substantially since then.
The FEC lists Dodd receiving $608,995 in itemized individual contributions between Jan. 1, 2009 and June 30, 2009. [Link]
Of that, onlyDuring the 1st quarter, $4,250 came from five Connecticut residents who live in South Glastonbury, Redding, Simsbury, Watertown and West Hartford.
That number jumped more than twenty-fold in the following quarter, with approximately 115 Connecticut residents joining the list of itemized contributors – people who have given more than $200. The donors came from the wealthy towns of Greenwich to the small towns of Washington Depot and West Cornwall, and Dodd’s hometown of East Haddam.
“In the second quarter, Senator Dodd raised $1.2 million, raising over $730,000 from individuals,” a spokeswoman for the Connecticut Democrats said.
Including smaller donations, where donor names and addresses do not have to be reported to the FEC, Dodd’s campaign received 491 contributions from Connecticut donors in the 2nd quarter.
Sen. Dodd also received $894,000 in contributions from Committees, and had $1.8 million cash on hand, the FEC said.
Dodd’s Democratic challengers, Merrick Alpert and Roger J. Pearson, listed zero contributions for the same period. Alpert reported $45,000 cash on hand, while Pearson reported $50,000 cash on hand.
On the Republican side, Sam Caliguri reported $43,400 in itemized individual contributions, and no PAC contributions. Only two of his 48 contributors during the first quarter were from outside Connecticut.
The FEC data for former 2nd District Representative Rob Simmons listed no itemized contributions through March, 2009.

Well Chris Dodd IS a LYING,SLEAZY,INFLUENCE PEDDLING, ASS-COVERING, CORRUPT pile of garbage and WE employ him.
LETS FIRE HIM!!!
Call his office and tell the snippy, snot-nosed intern who answers that her/his boss is FIRED in Nov 2010!

[Editor's Note: Glen, there is also a classification for 'Unitemized Individual Contributions' which do not list towns and names. Your donation may fall under that category.]
Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion but Dodd has shown himself to be corrupt in everyway possible! Being head of the banking commitee, he bears a lot of responsibility for the collapse of the banks. He has a few houses that were purchased from people he did political favors for and he got mortgage rates that, at the time, were considerably lower than the norm. He hasn't done squat for CT and we need to send him packing. Please, CT voters - do the right thing here.
Dodd is corrupt and has caused our country major damage !
Wake-up fool......

Glen, you are truly a friggin moron. People like you make me vomit.
Maybe Mr. Dodd has made mistakes
and maybe not. But, I do not think he meant to do any harm. He was just mis-infomred.
Let us give Chris the benefit of the doubt. I still with all
due respect to You guys think He is a terrifc guy and I wish I could be like him and meet him to shake hands with him and sit and talk over a cup of tea or something and get his side of the story.
I also know that I intend to vote for him next time his election is up for vote. If I have a few dollars I may even give it to his campaign
The only thing I am disappointed
in is that the above story does not show that a New Canaan person contributed $14.00 to his campaign. It was all I had
at the time I got the email to help out.

Christopher Dodd represents the state of Lobby. Lobbyists are his constituency. They send him all his money and he does their bidding.
He lost the little remaining bit of his credibility when he moved his family to Iowa. Let him move there now.
You have to be a complete idiot to think Dodd cares about this state.
He is incompetent.
It is his job- his obligation- to stay informed. He's been on cruise control for 25 years.
It's nice that you like him. Next time you have that tea ask him why he falsified his financial statements. Ask him why he lied about the AIG bonuses. Ask him why he was asking for more bank degregulation in August of 2007 when it was HIS JOB to watch the store.
Ask him why he voted for a stimulus bill without reading it.

While there are still a couple of things I'm not crazy about with your story as corrected, I'm very impressed by the way to took ownership of your mistake and faced a rather upset blogosphere (and yes, we CAN get a bit testy at times!) and you made a stand up apology.
Kudos to you, sir!
