Obama downplays affirmative action

Washington (AP) – President Barack Obama says he’s never believed that affirmative action is as much of an issue as it’s been made out to be.
He says it hasn’t been as “potent a force for racial progress” as its supporters have said, and that it hasn’t been as bad for white students or job applicants as its critics say.
In an Associated Press interview Thursday, Obama said affirmative action can be made an “afterthought” when problems such as malnutrition, poverty and substandard schools are dealt with, and “everybody has a level playing field.”
He said the recent Supreme Court decision in favor of white firefighters who were denied promotion in New Haven, Conn., was a “very narrow” case, and that it’s “hard to gauge” where the court will go next on the issue.

"mandated" sets of numbers do nothing.............
kids shouldnt be bused 20 or 30 miles just because there are more one color than another in a certain town or city....if the kids cant get a good education....look at the REAL problem......LOUSY education system.......education standards should be the same....ANYWHERE........ "standard curriculum" should be in all schools.......not little friggin social "experiments" that DONT educate.......IF you have a education system ALL working on the same page, it wouldnt matter if a school system has over 80% of a certain "color"........why the hell should that matter ??????
As far as hiring people, its f''cking simple..........the BEST candidate gets the job...period......... no "special tests" or any other BS................
Diversity is a friggin curse...LOL.........there is NEVER going to be "equality" as long as you put in # 's.....
AA is code for Whites and Asians need not apply.
If you are black or Hispanic then you are golden.
Dosen't matter if you are dumb as a box of rocks - The system will pass you through........l
he had no money but only will.
if you want a better life then work for it. suffer for your children to get a better life if you can't it has to start at some generation.
Once I accidently checked the other box when soliciting information on schools and what a flood of information did I get!
End affirmative actions, quotas everything now! or should I say ahora?
Now would be a good time.
