Hartford (AP) – Gov. M. Jodi Rell, as promised, has vetoed the Connecticut Democrats’ budget proposal, saying it’s not balanced or realistic.
Rell’s veto Wednesday came as she met privately with legislative leaders for a fourth day at the executive residence about a new two-year tax and spending plan. The new fiscal year has begun without a budget in place.
Rell on Tuesday signed an executive order to keep the state running for a month.
The Republican governor and Democratic-controlled General Assembly have been at odds for months over how to cover the two-year deficit, predicted to be as much as $8.8 billion.
Democrats say Rell’s decision to release her veto message several days after she first made it public goes against the spirit of bipartisanship they’ve strived for in negotiations.

Times are tough and business are closing or fleeing the area quickly. Now is the time for Corporate and Business cuts and tell all of the public services they need to tighten up their belts as we get through this Depression.
Give the freeloaders a one-way bus ticket to another state.....
