Hartford (AP) – The value of Sen. Christopher Dodd’s vacation cottage in Ireland shows the value of the property has more than doubled to nearly $660,000.
The seaside home, located in County Galway, is valued on Dodd’s new financial disclosure report at between $500,000 and $1,000,000. It was listed at between $100,001 and $250,000 on Dodd’s 2007 financial disclosure report.
An estimate by a real estate agent in Ireland places the value at about $660,000, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.
The appraisal says the property would likely fetch 470,000 euros on the open market. That equates to about $660,000 at today’s exchange rate.
Bryan DeAngelis, a Dodd spokesman, says Dodd and his wife made a good faith effort to get an updated value of the property to adhere to the Senate’s financial disclosure rules.
