Hartford (AP) – Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell is asking state agencies to come up with a list of projects that are ready to be built if the state receives federal stimulus funding.
Rell asked the departments of Public Works, Transportation and Economic and Community Development to prioritize “shovel ready” projects. They may include road, bridge, rail, and public buildings projects, and economic development and housing initiatives in the final design stages.
Rell will be attending a meeting next week with President-elect Barack Obama, who is expected to talk with governors about how the economic crisis is crimping states and their budgets.
Obama has asked Congress to ready an economic stimulus program for him to sign as soon as possible after he takes office on Jan. 20.

Oh & lets remember the BILLION dollar train garage....
money ALL well spent in these times...............
Taxes are going to increase??? How LONG did it take to arrive at that conclusion, with the current bozo more than doubling the natl debt??? Did you ask a CPA? At least per above, if there is going to be defecit spending, real work for our own infrastructure and benefit, will
be effected, as opposed to all the Haliburton concerns being enriched via the hole dug in Iraq. Some "independent observer" allright....
Has Betty forgotten those?
Maybe the stimulus should be used to keep us afloat?
In short, the state of CT will get money, blow it and then tell us all we have a deficit!
Jodi needs to go!
We are so screwed.
I just love the way state governments think that federal money is free money. Last time I check that stimulus money was coming out of my wallet too.
