Young people set voter registration record

Hartford (WTNH) – Just under 70,000 18-29 year olds in Connecticut have registered since January 1st, the single largest group of new voters to register in that period, the secretary of state announced today.
Of the nearly 69,826 new voters between the ages of 18 and 29, 30,792 registered as Democrats, 30,683 registered as Unaffiliated and 7,876 registered as Republicans.
There are 1,967,543 registered voters in Connecticut.
Registration forms collected as part of a registration drive or sent by mail must be postmarked or delivered to Registrars of Voters offices no later than Tuesday October 21st. The deadline for individuals to turn in their voter registration form in person at their local municipal offices is Tuesday October 28th until 8:00pm.
