Nader to appear on Conn. ballot, Barr out

Hartford (AP) – Connecticut’s secretary of the state says presidential candidate Ralph Nader has submitted enough valid petition signatures to appear on the state’s ballot for the Nov. 4 election, but the Libertarian contender has not.


Nader, who lives in Winsted, is running as an independent.

Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz says Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr won’t be on the ballot, because his party did not provide the necessary 7,500 valid signatures that a petitioning candidate needs to qualify.

Connecticut will have a total of 42 petitioning candidates on the ballot for president, Congress and the General Assembly. That figure does not include cross-endorsed candidates.

Thank you. He has actually been on the ballot for many months, they are just covering it now.
