Good job by Mayor Bingham and the City Council in Torrington. Maybe this fine example can be done by Our Governor and the illiterate Democrats in the General Assembly who continue to do absolutely nothing for the citizens of Connecticut. Because Bozo Amann and Donny Williams are too busy planning their trip to The Democratic Sit in and Love Fest for Obama in Denver instead of getting an energy policy done. Ryan Bingham is a future star in The Republican Party and is to be commended for taking some action.

This should have never been an issue. Why should the tax payers be stuck paying the bill for town cars that are being used for personal use? My taxes are high enough in Torrington and now I know why.
This ban should go into affect for the state police as well. I'm tired of seeing state troopers using their cars for personal use. You can only fit so many kids in the backseat to take to soccer and baseball practice.

Any State owned or town owned car should only be used for state or town use and not for personal use.

Where I work, when the company car is being used for personal use, the person MUST pay income tax for doing so!
A certain amount PER MILE is added to the person's income and as such the person must pay taxes based on this type of income as if it were money earned.
Do government officials live by this standard as well or is such swept under the carpet?

I feel that if a government official uses a work car for personal use, they should re-reimburse the town or city on a per mile bases,

There is a state trooper that uses his car to drive to the gym in the morning - makes you wonder about their integrity on the job.

I think every mayor and first select man in their cities or towns should ban officials from using company cars for their own personal use. I see sometimes when i go out that there is a city car that they use at their own home. This is ridiculous and something should be done about this issue. No public offical should NEVER use a city or state vehicle personal use or drive it to thier own home.
