Conn. homeland security grant increases

Hartford (AP) – Sen. Joe Lieberman says the federal government will be giving Connecticut nearly $15 million in homeland security aid this year, a 42 percent increase over last year’s grant.

The independent Connecticut senator is chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

He says the increase is mostly due to the Hartford and Bridgeport areas both being awarded $2 million in grants for high-risk urban areas. It’s the first time since 2004 that a Connecticut city has received aid from the high-risk city program.

Lieberman says the money will help Connecticut officials prevent disasters by sharing and analyzing law enforcement and terrorism information. He says it will also improve the ability of authorities to respond to disasters that can’t be prevented.

I wonder if the Sanctuary Cities will cooperate with the Feds......If not, I hope they don't get any of the money.

Where else would the money go but to the citys. New Haven and Danbury are a Shame to America as it is then they use OUR tax money to support Illegal criminals.. Nice

Well... no human can be 'illegal' because illegality is an action put upon a circumstance. A person can commit an unlawful and illegal act, but they themselves are unable to be illegal by the implementation of the word.

So perhaps it is you believe that undocumented immigrants have in fact crossed the border illegally and threatened sovereignty, so their ACT is illegal, they themselves are, at least by the logical you and others seem to believe, criminal.

This money will somehow be dumped into our general fund and we won't be any safer. I believe the money should go for surveillance of our "sanctuary cities". What better place to find subversives?

If Joe Lieberman says that the money will be used for Homeland Security, I have no doubt that he will oversee that the funds are actually used for that purpose, and go to areas that need the most help. I trust the man to do his job since he has always done is best for his constituants in the past. He is chairman of that committee and is a very responsible person. There should be no debate on this issue.
