Hartford, Conn. (WTNH) – The State Labor Department has prosecuted over 350 businesses in the past two years for mis-classifying workers as independent contractors in order to avoid paying unemployment taxes, workers compensation premiums, and health care benefits.

Bysiewicz trial set for April

Hartford, Conn. (WTNH) – The trial to determine if Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz is qualified to run for Attorney General has been tentatively set for the first week in April. A hearing is set for Tuesday, April 6.
Bysiewicz wants a judge to declare her 11 years as Secretary of the State to be years of active practice as a lawyer, and if not, to declare the statute unconstitutional.
The state statute says the Attorney General must have ten years active practice at the bar.
